"You just got out of a divorce Kelly. You're staying here as long as you want." Her mother said.

24 year old Kelly had just got out of a bad divorce and she had moved back to her hometown to live with her parents.

Her mother made sure that she had everything she needed and that she was treated like royalty. Their bond was tight and the two were inseparable.

Her father on the other hand was the total opposite. They weren't close at all.

He would try to butter her up and kiss up to her a lot but as far as she was concerned, he was the ruined her life and she wanted no parts of him.

Because of her dad, her marriage went into shambles and she lost basically everything she had worked so hard for.

He knew what he did to her but he still refuses to act like he did anything, let alone sincerely apologize for it.

If it were up to her, she would be in a shelter somewhere but her mom strongly encouraged her to stay with them until she got back on her feet, but knowing her mother, permanently.

"Ma, I can't continue to just stay here and live off of you guys. I need a job." She said.

"Kelis, just let her go. She wants to be an adult you can't baby her forever." Her father said.

"Frank." Kelly's mom said sighing and already annoyed.

"What?" He said.

"Says the person who always seems to treat me like a child." Kelly blurted out.

"Excuse me?" Frank said.

"You think you run me but you don't. Making decisions for me and acting like I'm a little ass kid." She snapped.

"Kelly, just relax. Okay? Go upstairs and take a bath or something I'll be there to check on you in a moment." Her mom said rubbing her arm.

Kelly looked at her father with an angry glare as she walked out of the kitchen with her arms crossed.

"Frank, you need to stop. You're making that girl uncomfortable in her own home. You've done enough damage to her already, just leave her alone." Kelis said.

"I'm trying to build a relationship with her. She's my daughter too, Kelis. You've made decisions for her her whole life and I've had nothing to do with it."

"So you make a decision by breaking her marriage up? She was happy Frank. She really was and you messed it up for her. You don't even know why you did it." Kelis snapped.

"I did it for a damn good reason. And you don't know anything about their marriage, it was far over anyway."

"You are pathetic. You think breaking up your daughter's marriage can ever be justified?"

"I did it to save our lives." He blurted.

"What?" Kelis asked confused.

Frank sighed and stood up. "Remember the Powers family?"

"Yes. Kevin Powers is the most dangerous man in town. What did you do?" Kelis said getting worried.

Frank sighed. "I owe him some money and I can't pay it back, so I told him that I would give him Kells." He explained.
