"Kai. Are you listening to me?" Her mother spoke.

Kai couldn't focus on anything else other than the fact that she just had to break up with her boyfriend of 3 years because he didn't want to get his shit together.

She was more-so mad because she wasted all those years being loyal and faithful and nothing short of a ride or die for him and he just took her for granted. She was angry but she got played in her face and that she was looking stupid for all of her friends and family to see.

"Yeah ma. I heard you." She said picking greens.

"What is wrong? Usually you're bouncing off the walls. Are you okay?" Her mom asked.

"Yeah ma. I'm fine."

"I can tell you lying. You know I can. What's wrong?"

Kai sighed.

"Me and Keith broke up last night."

Her mom shook her head.

"Any other time I'll feel bad for you, but not this time. I'm actually glad you left him."

Kai looked up at her mom and kind of frowned a little. "Ma-"

"Keith was everything but good to you. You settled for him just because of the money and his fame didn't you?"

"No ma. I fell for him because of his personality at first. Kieth wasn't always this person."

"Yes He was. He was just waiting for the right time to show you who he really is. You just didn't see it."

Kai crossed her arms.

"So what happened?" Her mom asks looking at her.

"I told him that he couldn't have his cake and eat it too." Kai said looking at the table and tears coming down her face one by one. "He looked at me and told me that he didn't see He point of having cake if he can't eat it at all."

Her mom shook her head.

"Are you serious?"

"Ma, it took everything in me not to shoot him."

"What led up to this?"

Kai sighed before answering.

The whole time Keith and Kai were together, Keith had done her wrong and she would always go to her mom for advice. her mom knew what type of person Keith was but Kaianna would never listen to her when she warned her.

After explaining to her mother the story, Kai's face was filled with tears.

"I just feel so weak for not standing up for myself and not seeing that he was so toxic for me!"

"Kai, I can see the frustration and I can feel the hurt and pain you go through. Why do you continue to put yourself through it?"

"I can't just up and walk away from that when it's all I know. I've been with Keith for years ma."

"I know. I was the same way with your father. But then I had to realize that I have to choose between life and death. Life was choosing to leave the relationship alone and move on to bigger and better. Death was me staying in a toxic relationship knowing it wasn't healthy for me. I chose life."

"Ma, Keith is my life. I gave that boy everything I had." Kai said sighing."

"What's wrong with starting over? Yes you and Keith have history and if you asked him to marry you right now he would hop on the first thing smoking to do it. But baby, what's good to you is not always good for you. You need to get yourself together. Now if you see that he's changed then you forgive him and give him another chance. But if you see that he's still the same Keith then you leave him alone."
