I can't describe how I was feeling that day. I could maybe use the terms 'nervous', 'shaken' or 'on edge', but they wouldn't even begin to cover it. My hands were shaking violently, and my brain wouldn't stop coming up with diverse scenarios where this day would end tragically.

But hey, can you blame me? It was my first day at a new school, after living my whole life in a small town, where things never got exiting at all. A safe place, where everything was always quiet and peaceful, and in which I was used to live in, was now being replaced by this unknown, unpredictable scene. And yeah, I might sound a little dramatic about it, but I'm not exaggerating. It really was hard to get through that day.

I parked my mom's car in the student's parking lot, which was huge and filled with cars of all kinds. I shut the door and adjusted my backpack, swallowing. I looked down at my outfit: a pair of denim jeans, maroon tee, and vans. Simple.

What are they gonna think about me? Is this ouftit okay? Maybe I should've changed into the black shirt... I thought. But you didn't, and as you always say: 'regret is a pointless emotion'. So relax and get in there once and for all!

I took a deep breath and scanned the inmense building, forcing my feet to move towards it. I tried to calm down, but the crowd of noisy teenagers rushing past me wasn't exacly helping.

I quickly deduced which ones were popular: a group of brainless-looking boys, who were wearing the same jacket to represent some sports team, I assumed. I looked away, analyzing the rest of the students. Some of them were talking, some were on their phones, and others were rushing over to class. To my relief, no one was staring at me, so I guess I did a good job at blending in.

I still had fifteen minutes before class started, so I decided to use my time wisely: I looked for an empty, isolated bench, and the second I found it, I directed myself towards it.

It was located behind a tree, and was surrounded by some beautiful, colorful flowers. The space didn't match with the rest of the institute at all, which made it seem as if it wasn't a part of it anymore; as if it were another place.

I sat down and opened my bag, taking out the book I was currently reading before zipping it back and resting it in the green, fresh grass. I adjusted my glasses and began a new chapter, letting its words make me forget my surroundings and absorb me completely.

"Well, well, what do we have here?", a feminine voice said, dragging me back to reality.

I looked up from my book and adjusted my glasses once more, and I saw that the owner of the voice was a barely clothed, straight, nut-brown haired girl who was surrounded by two more high self esteem-looking females, all of them staring down at me with an arrogant expression and their slim arms folded to their chests.

My brows furrowed in confusion as I looked around, checking whether she was talking to me or to someone else, but no one was paying attention. I locked eyes with the brunnette chick who stood before myself, realising she was obviously the "leader".

"You're new, right?", she asked me with her probably usual egocentric tone.

"I'm Lorraine actually, but I guess I'm good with new", I joked nervously. Nobody laughed, of course.
