As soon as I entered the enormous house, I was handed a red cup by a guy who looked like he came here to have fun, but instead ended up serving as the waiter. I smiled weakly at him and mumbled a 'thank you', avoiding his merciful gaze.

I walked forward, forcing my brain to catch up to this new scenario around me: shirtless hot guys everywhere, surrounded by girls in bikinis, all of them holding the same cup as me. Music filled the air, but it was loud enough for me to hear everyone laughing and chatting.

The party had started around half an hour ago, so there wasn't anyone inside the pool yet, but that didn't stop them from exposing their bodies. I trailed my eyes away from them, and focused on what I had come here to do: find my friend, and take her back home.

I looked around for what seemed like an eternity, scanning the whole house in and out, but she wasn't anywhere to be found. At some point, when I had seen and studied every face and every corner and still didn't find her, I started to get really frustrated and a bit desperate. When I find this bitch, I'll fucking kill her, I promised to my insides.

Eventually, I gave up, and headed outside to get some air and clear my head. Where the hell is she?  I sighed and looked down at my hand, which was still holding the red cup. I lifted it to my mouth and took a sip, unsure of what to even do next. I looked around lazily; everyone seemed like they were having a great time, except me, of course.

I moved forward, closer to the inmense pool before me, and walked around it, admiring the whole place more in detail. The house was precious without a doubt, packed with beautiful, expensive-looking decorations and matching furniture. I stayed there for a couple of minutes, inmersed under my own thoughts and drinking what was left of whatever fluid my cup contained.

But I was cut off of my trance when I felt a pair of firm hands push me from behind. I didn't even have time to react or to stop it; I just lost all balance and fell forward, crashing against the water.

I swam back to surface as quickly as possible, and took a deep intake of air. I heard laughter everywhere, and opened my eyes, startled, to find everyone looking down at me in amusement. But just before I had time to feel ashamed or embarrassed, they all started jumping inside the pool after me, one by one.

"Sorry for that", a guy said, looking more amused than sorry. I glared at him, and started to come up with various insults to throw at him, but something stopped me: my favorite ring was gone. My mother's ring.

I looked up once more to yell at the guy, but he was long gone. "Hey, I lost my ring, dumbass!", I shouted to no one in particular. "Seriously, it was important to me!", I demanded again pathetically.

"What'd you lose?", another guy asked me, his voice loud enough for me to hear him in between all the noise and water splashing everywhere.

"My ring!", I replied, maybe louder than necessary.

He nodded in response, and turned to say: "Hey, whoever finds her ring gets free beer, everyone!"

"What does it look like?", asked some girl, although most of them had already submerged inside the water and started looking for it.

"Um, it's color silver and plain", I explained. "Kind of like a wedding ring"

To my surprise, everyone was looking for it. Swimming non stop, to surface for air and then back to the depths. And just when I figured I should start looking for it as well, given the fact that it was my ring, a male voice behind me stopped me.

"I think I've found it", he said as I turned around to face him. "Is it this one?"

He almost completely took my breath away. God, to say he was gorgeous was an understatement. He was stunning, all brown eyes and brown hair, soaked from head to toe. So tall I had to lift my chin to get a good view.

He grabbed my hand gently, and I almost jumped back. His touch was silk smooth to say the least, and sent waves of electricity to my whole body instantly. I swallowed, trying to keep myself together while he pushed the ring around my finger.

"Yeah, it's this one", I managed to mumble, and sounded like I was daydreaming. "Thanks"

We locked eyes, and he smiled widely, showing off a perfect set of white teeth and narrowing his eyes, which were sparkling intensely.

"It's nothing", he replied, and smiled even wider, if possible. "Maybe I'll see you around?"

I couldn't help but smile back at him. Maybe this night wasn't a complete disaster after all.
