The beach was completely deserted, except for Shawn and myself. We were surrounded by inmense walls of rocks and stone, naturally distributed around us, adding even more privacy to our surroundings, and transforming the setting into a beautiful, sacred place.

The sun had just encountered the distant horizon, embracing it in its warm rays of light, and turning the sky into a beautiful painting, covered in thousends of different tones of colors, which dyed the countless clouds into colorful floating cottons of all sorts. Nonetheless, the sky was dark, almost somber, and bathed us both in its lugubrious shadow.

Shawn was standing on the shore, his feet soaked in the constant rush of waves, staring at the vast sea. The slight breeze of the wind brushed his hair messily to all directions, but he looked as steady as an anchor, glued to the sand below his feet.

I approached him slowly and steadily, my feet silent against the ground. I was eager to know what sort of thoughts were crossing his mind at that moment, and I was also determined to find out.

"Hey", I whispered loud enough for him to snap out of his trance and aknowledge my prescence. "What are you thinking?", I asked as I clasped my arms around his torso, feeling the sweet warmth of his body slip through mine.

He placed his hands over them, and moved aside a bit to pull me closer. He then haved a sigh, and finally returned his gaze to the horizon.

"It's just", he began, trying to find the right words to explain himself. "The ocean unsettles me... It's so inmense and infinite, and most of all, really scary"

He laughed a little at his last sentence, but I knew him well enough to know he was serious. He was, in fact, a bit afraid of the ocean.

"I know", I said in a low tone of voice, and held him tighter. I wanted him to explain me more, to tell me everything he was feeling and describe every thought crossing his mind, even if nothing he would say made any sense at all. And, of course, he sensed I was eager to hear him, so he continued:

"I imagine myself stranded in the middle of the sea, without knowing what's underneath my feet or where the shore is, and it just scares me", he confessed, and I felt his muscles tense. "I-I don't really know how to explain it"

I looked at him and he stared back into my eyes, tearing his gaze away from the sea. I smiled weakly, and he knew I understood him. There was no need for any more words. I thought through him, felt through him, and he knew that too.

"You know, it can be a beautiful thing too", I said, and we both looked back to the landscape before us. "It matches perfectly with the sky, with the sun, the clouds... It creates this perfect reflection, and, I don't know, it feels kind of magical to me"

I felt his burning gaze on me. After a few moments, he smiled widely. "I guess that's another way to see it", he said, chuckling softly. "You were always the poetical one"

I matched his smile inmediately. "Shut up", I said, laughing harder now.

He laughed too, and gently planted a soft kiss on my forehead. We held each other until we almost merged together, and watched the sun hide under the horizon until the sky became dark, and until our hearts melted into one.
