Laurens was slowly getting better as time passed, fortunately. He fell asleep not so long ago. He woke up a few hours later, sitting up. He had a bit of a headache. He looked down at the letter, smiling. There was no noise. Just darkness and silent. Midnight.
"I guess I woke up way too late, hah..." Laurens looked around the tent, picking up his turtle plush. He looked up, Lafayette seemed to be sleeping sitting up. Laurens looked at his shoulder, it was bandaged and blood was soaking through it. He crawled up to him, worried, now. He didn't want to wake him up, though. He frowned, sighing. He came closer to him, cuddling up against him. Laurens guessed he wasn't fully asleep since he wrapped his arms around him. He looked up at him, still frowning.
"Y-You're shoulder..." Laurens said quietly.
"Hmm...? What about my shoulder?" Lafayette asked, looking at it, now.
"Ah, yes... hahah, nothing but a scratch..." he smiled.
"Laf, you got shot in the shoulder! What do you mean just a scratch?!" Laurens shouted a little.
"I've been through worse. How you are? Feeling any better?" Lafayette changed the subject. Laurens got a bit irritated.
"You always worry about my life more than yours!" he shook his head.
"That's because I love you too much..." Lafayette said.
"Just-..." Laurens sighed, hugging him.
"At least care about yourself, too..." Laurens looked at the ground, contemplating. Lafayette hugged him back, kissing his temple.
"Just be careful out there..." Laurens said.
"I'll try my best, mon amour..." Lafayette sighed quietly.
"D-Don't j-just try.." Laurens looked up at him.
"J-Just do it... for me..." he whispered.
"Relax, I'll be fine, mon amour..." Lafayette frowned, patting his head.
"You better be." Laurens looked back at him. Lafayette smiled a little, kissing his cheek. Laurens sighed again, wishing his sickness could go away so he could go out in the battlefield and fight again. Lafayette picked up Philip's letter, reading it again. Laurens looked at him again, seeing a blush on his face. He tilted his head, slowly poking his nose. Lafayette's whole face turned red, now, looking at him.
"Um, woah.. what are YOU think about?" Laurens asked him.
"O-Oh! N-Nothing, Laurens." Lafayette kept his eyes on the letter.
"Liar, I can tell." Laurens smiled again.
"Just, uh, thinking about things..." Lafayette said.
"What kind of things?"
"Thing things."
"That doesn't tell me much..." Laurens giggled.
(Lmao. That's all. Yw.)
