Riley's POV

My dad had organized a little week school thing for my class. It was the first day of the week. I woke up and it was 6:30 in the morning.

"Riley, it is time to wake up," my mom said.

"Mom, why do I have to go?" I asked groggily.

"Because your dad wants to teach you guys lesson before you start school and it is your father," she replied,"Now get up and get ready. Also remember that your father wants you differently the whole week."

"Ugh, why?" I asked. I didn't want to get up early especially in the summer.

"It is part of his lesson," she said,"I laid out your outfit on your desk, now get up and ready."

I slowly got up and walked to my desk to see my outfit. It was a white crop top, ripped jeans, navy blue bomber jacket, Adidas and a choker.

(AN- Want to see her outfit in pictures? Go to my story hairstyles outfit book . You can also see Lucas' outfit too.)

"What is the point of changing our clothing style?" I asked myself.

I know my dad always has a reason behind doing things like this but I really had no idea why he was making us do this.

I got dressed and I combed my hair normally. I walked down to the kitchen and ate breakfast. Auggie was already downstairs eating.

"Mom, why is Riley already awake?" Auggie asked.

"Because, your sister and her friends have to go to school today," my mom said.

"Summer school?" Auggie asked.

"No, dad created a week long lesson for my class and I have to go. Trust me, I would rather not be here either," I said.

"Oh," Auggie said.

"Don't talk to her, she is mad because she had to wake up early," my mother said.

"Okay," he said.

I ate my breakfast and Maya came and got me.

"Hey, Matthews," she said as she barged in.

"Hey, Maya," my mom said,"How are you doing waking up early?"

"Why did Matthews decide to do that?" Maya asked angrily.

"I would love to know that too," I said.

After a little while longer we left and headed off to school for the week.

"Hey, Riley," Lucas said when he saw me.

"Hey, Lucas," I said.

We exchanged a quick hug and went to class.

"Welcome to your week-long summer school," my father said.

"Why are we here?" Zay asked.

"I noticed you all followed the rule of dressing differently than you usually would for the week," my father continued.

"Yeah, why?" Maya asked.

"You guys will find out why you are here and why you are all dressed in a different style than you usually would," he said.

"Why can't you just tell us now?" Farkle asked.

"Industrial Revolution," he said pointing to the board.

"Industrial Revolution was when America was inventing a bunch of different things to make life easier but that ended up hurting America," my father said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Let's relate it to your lives like I always do," he continued.

"You teenagers buy things in hopes that you will be able to get more people to like you, you buy things to be liked even if it covering up your actual self," he said,"That was similar to what America did. The citizens created machines that made life easier when overtime it really hurt America. Your lesson, do't try to be somebody you aren't especially when you are hurting yourself in the process."

"That was why you needed us this week?" Zay asked.

"That was just day 1," my father answered,"Class dismissed."

We left the classroom and I met up with Smackle, Farkle, Zay, Maya and Lucas.

"That was probably the quickest lesson that your father has ever taught us," Zay said.

"I know, but it probably was one of the deepest lessons," Maya said,"he had us change who we were because if we actually attempt to change who we are then we change who we are without anybody knowing the real us."

"Yeah," we all said in unison.

Maybe being myself is the best way to let people love me.
