Lucas' POV
It was the last day of July meaning school was right around the corner. Riley and I decided to hang out for the last day of July.
"Hey, Lucas," Riley said when we met up .
"Hey, Riley," I said kissing her sweet lips.
"What do you want to do?" she asked taking my hand.
We met up at my house first and I planned out most of the day.
"We are going to go hang out in the woods behind my house first," I said.
"Okay," she said.
We went outside and walked to the back of my house. Riley and I have sent a bunch of time in these woods running around and exploring.
"Hey, isn't this the tree that you asked me out by?" she asked. When I asked out Riley we craved our initials into the tree with the date.
"Yeah, RM + LF, 4/25," I read.
"I will always love that date," she said with a smile.
"This was also the tree that we had our first kiss," I said.
I placed my lips on the top of her head before resting my head on the top of her head.
"I love you," she said smiling.
"I love you more, sweetie," I said hugging her from behind.
She hugged back and I felt the beaming that she had on her face.
We walked around a little bit more and before we knew it we were exploring a new part of our forest that we haven't been in before.
"Have you ever been in this part of your forest?" she asked while looking around.
"No, mom usually tells me to be back at a certain time so I don't can't really venture out that far," I said while looking at her. Dang, she was pretty.
"Well, we can explore together," she said grabbing my hand and running down the hill that lied before us.
"You are insane," I said when we got down the hill.
"Why," she asked.
"You have no idea what could be in there, we could get lost, there are so many possibilities that could happen," I said.
"I know you will protect me," she said.
She wasn't exactly wrong. I would protect her at all costs but I don't want to have her be the one to report to my parents that I passed away.
"You aren't exactly wrong," I said sweetly.
"What do you mean?" she asked playfully.
"I don't want you to be the one to tell my family that I passed away from protecting you," I said,"I don't want you to have to think about that heartbreak." I took her hands and looked her into her sparkling dark brown eyes.
"I love you," she said looking down at her feet.
"I love you more," I said. I lifted her head so she was looking at me and softly kissed her lips.
We pulled off and went a little deeper into the forest before I persuaded her to turn back so we didn't get lot or one of us get seriously injured.
"Why do you want to turn back so early?" she asked as I grabbed her hand.
"I don't want you to get injured," I said. I couldn't bear her getting hurt to be all of my fault.
We got back after about an hour.
"Hey, kids," my mom said.
"Hey," Riley and I said together.
"You two do know you two are too late to go see that movie," she said.
"It's fine. We had a great time anyways," Riley said.
Maybe even though we didn't have a super fancy time we made a memory that we both will be able to remember forever.
