It was almost midnight & Luhan was still outside waiting for the love of his life to come.
He lets out a long breath and marvels as it turned into vapor quickly, the white smoky like air disappearing as quickly as it came. He tapped his feet impatiently as he waited for you; that one girl who took his heart and refused to return it whatsoever. Luhan never thought he'd be a sucker for romanticism or as they say, weak in the knees because of a certain girl, but this girl name *y/n* proved everything wrong for him.
Luhan took a single glance at his wristwatch & looked around only to see nothing. “She shall be here by now.” He muttered to himself as he lets out another long breath.
“Luhan oppa~!”
Luhan perked up immediately at the voice and looked around, smiling brightly as his girl came running towards him. Her cheeks were flushed red because of the cold and her pink sweater looked too large for her. He had to admit she wasn’t the prettiest or even outstanding girl in the world * not even in Seoul. Just NO. And Luhan never thought he would fall for someone as clumsy as *y/n*. In fact, he never pictured himself falling in love for anyone.
"*y/n*!" Luhan waved you over and all the air was knocked out of his lungs as you hurled yourself at him, hugging him tightly. Luhan's arms curled around you naturally and he took a deep breath. You could smell the intoxicating cologne he was wearing and you could feel the intense heat radiating from his lean body.
You in his arms; nothing is better than this.
"Sorry I'm late, oppa." You poked your head up and beamed at Luhan. He kissed your forehead once and took your hand, swinging your interlaced fingers. "It's okay, babe." He chuckled & glanced at his girlfriend. "I didn't wait that long either." He added before pinching your nose gently.
You smiled and nodded, skipping lightly in your steps as the both of you strolled outside your house.
It was New Year’s Eve and most people were home celebrating the last minute of the year with their families. Luhan didn’t get his chance to spend this important day together with his family since his family is away in China, however he wasn’t sad about it since he has you including his fellow members to celebrate together.
Luhan asked you earlier on a special date & he wanted to spend the last few minutes of December 31st along with you; the person he loves the most.
"Where are we going, oppa?" You asked curiously, your eyes looking around at the well lit homes and ears perking at the occasional cheers from the homes.
Luhan gave you a smile and continued walking. "You'll see. Did you think I'd kidnap you or something?" He mused, tapping your frozen nose.
You wrinkled your nose and gave him a sly smile. "I don't know. You seem to fit the role quite well." You joked & stuck your tongue out at him.
Luhan raised a brow and shook his head in amusement. He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and tightened his grip on your hand. "We're nearly there." He changed the topic & turned his gaze in front.
Finally, you have arrived after five minutes of walking.
You looked around curiously to recognize that Luhan had brought you to the beach near your house. Luhan turned to take a glance at you; staring at your feature. His lips curled up to form the softest smile as his eyes caught yours. You beamed at him & rested your head on his shoulder. You close your eyes. You could hear the waves crashing on the shore and make out the faint line where the sky met the sea.
Luhan then led you to a single street lamp. A bench was placed beside the street lamp and as the light was turned on, you could make out the words "Happy New Year *y/n*, I love you." On the banner which was placed near the street lamp.
You turned to Luhan on absolute surprise, a bright smile lighting your face. "Omo! Luhan oppa." You gasped, delighted.
Luhan led you to sit on the bench, wrapping an arm around your shoulder & making you to lie on his shoulder. "Remember this street lamp?" He pointed. You lifted up your head to take a look at the street lamp. You nodded with a small smile, a faraway look in your eyes. "Of course I do." You whispered softly & smiled up at Luhan. "This is a nice place you chose." This place; near the street lamp was where you met Luhan for the first time. And since then, you never stopped yourself from liking him and so is he.
"I know." He chuckled softly. "And when midnight strikes, we'll be able to see the fireworks from here I think.” Luhan continued.
You snuggled against him for warmth and nodded. You watched the night sky & enjoyed the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Luhan looked at you again for a moment & seemed to notice you’re thinking deeply.
He nudged you and cocked a brow. "What are you thinking about?" He murmured.
You gave a small smile and looked at him. "I'm curious, really. You never told me why." You mused. Luhan looked at you in curiosity. "Why did you pick me?" You finally spoke up. You’ve been wondering about this all the time & you thought you really need to ask him & hear the truth from his own lips.
Luhan’s face rapidly turned red and you chuckled heartily. "Seriously oppa? You're blushing? I just wanna know why a perfect guy like you pick a clumsy girl like me.” You blurted.
Luhan made a face before answering. "Sensitive topic." His voice sounded almost like he was whispering.
"No but seriously," You turned in his arms to look at him face to face. "Why me? The reason why I couldn't really believe you at first was because you chose me. Plain old clumsy *y/n* compared to—“
Within seconds, before you could finish your words, Luhan's lips were against
yours, his tongue innocently dipping in and out of your mouth. "Now, can you tell me that?" he asked as he broke the kiss, his eyebrow raised cockily. Your eyes widened
at the sensation that washed over you.
"Why'd you do that?" you asked lamely. It was all you could manage to think.
"To prove a point," he smiled.
"What point?" you asked, head still spinning.
Luhan smug a smirk & leaned in closer to your ear. You could feel the warmth from his breath brushes your frozen neck as he came closer.
"That I love you & that’s all you need to know.” Luhan whispered to your ear. And at that moment, the fireworks appeared from nowhere. Both of you were surprised. You watched the beautiful fireworks. Luhan held your hand & using his finger, he wrote something on your palm. He wrote ‘I <3 You’. You could feel them. You turned your head to look at Luhan. He shrugged and tightened his arms around you. "It's not too late for the New Year’s kiss." He bent down.
"Happy New Year, *y/n*." he murmured, his eyes dropping to your scarlet lips.
You close your eyes, smiling. "Happy New Year, Luhan oppa."
And you shared your first New Year’s kiss together under the shade of the moonlight.
