FILI POV

Every one of the notes said something about war. What was going on up there? Why didn’t Alissyanna mention this to us? Who were they fighting? Why? Ali took a seat on Kili’s knee, she was reading quickly, clutching the paper really tight, it was about to rip. I read the letter over her shoulder.

Alissyanna-

It’s getting bad up here. Worse than we thought it would. The rebels were taken care of the first few days, as I noted in our first letter. Last week’s battle nearly took Jay’s life. If Fayevia hadn’t been there she would have died. She won’t listen to me when I tell her she is not ready to lead an army. It’s not that she doesn’t make the right calls, it’s that she tries to be you, it’s sad really. But it is the only way they will listen. Since you left, they haven’t had a good General. If it gets too much worse up here I will need you to come up.

There is no way I can do this. Once this battle is won the throne is all yours if you want it, and I am not just being funny. I can’t do this. I can’t concentrate. He’s always on my mind. I think about him every second of everyday. I want you to keep him safe, hell, just at least lie to me and say you will. Fili too, Jay won’t stop talking about him, its sweet.

Now to a more serious subject. The west border was breached  three days ago. Ovnik rebels tried to burn the city. The King of Jedrikon surrendered, his land is currently under siege, all of the enemies (the real ones) are being imprisoned and sent to Tariko, the barren moon that circles Galinore.  Forothest, Prince of Galinore has made peace, signed their treaty and is currently waiting to sign one with Carak and Ulric, that should be done around noon tomorrow. Gwerawyn, Queen of Yorkar, has agreed to send troops in to help us fight the Cevethian troops back onto their planet, Ceveth.

Ulric sent me a letter, informing me that they had made peace with three of the seven demon colonies, Severokorr, WaKarrath, and Alhayd. He said that Gorilod and Taola were going to sign this week. Leofrondic and Thoarmink leaders are brothers now… twins, ones says yes the other says no, won’t sign till they both agree, but promised no wars unless we attacked first, so unofficialy he has all seven.

Perlaron has been barren for at least three hundred years. My father wiped out the whole race, we are sending a small team to make sure it is still inhabitable, then when our war is over we will allow people to start reconstructing and moving, giving us more space here. Mitengo was under siege by Alhayd and WaKarrath soldiers yesterday, no news yet, most lieky going well. Galinore and Yorkar have claimed it, it will give them more space, demons will also be welcome, in ALL angel worlds.

I will write again when I have more news. Have a safe journey and let me know what is going on when you can. Keep them all safe and I will see you when this is over. Before I forget, if you EVER need my help, I will come, all you have to do is call. Till then… good luck.

-        Vivianetta

What was she talking about? There were more angel worlds? More demons worlds? I still had no answer on who they were fighting. I decided to let it be, if it got worse. I trusted Ali would explain.

ALISSYANNA POV

I stood and looked at Gandalf and Beorn, I had told them of the happenings in my land this morning before everyone woke. I nodded a quick no then reached for a quill and ink jar nearby. I quickly wrote a note on a piece of parchment Beorn handed me. I scribbled my message, it consisted of a quick thank you for informing me, everyone is fine, will call if I need you, in a hurry, keep me up to date, good luck, and that was all. I slipped the paper back into the envelope and passed around a parchment so everyone could write a quick letter back. I told them to put it in the envelope and to bring it to me when they had finished. I stood and went outside.

“Why me?” I asked looking up at the blue sky. A light breeze started up, blowing my hair in wisps around my face and shoulders. I just kept my eyes forward, scanning the lands in front of me. There were footsteps behind me, I figured it was Kili bringing me the letter, but I was wrong. A hand slipped over my mouth, a very strong arm wrapped around my arms, pinning them to my sides. I lifted me feet up to make myself heavier in hopes that they would drop me but they carried me with ease… I need to start eating more.

“Sh, sh, sh. Quiet.” A man said, lifting his hand away from my mouth. He pulled me down behind the small stone wall so we weren’t seen. I spun on my knees and looked at my attacker… well, he wasn’t really as much of an attacker as he was a tall burly brute.

“Borim?!”

“SH! Do you want us to get caught?!”

“Who are we hiding from?”

“The Beorning! He sees me I’m dead.” I nodded. Then slumped down a bit more.

“Why are you here? Am I needed?”

“Nope.”

“Then what?”

“To warn you.” He said, his deep, gruff voice was barely audible.

“About what?”

“You remember Azog right? Tall, creepy, unusually infatuated with you.”

“How could I forget? But what about him? I know he’s been following me.”

“Yeah, um, ‘bout that, he’s not following you anymore.”

“You killed him?”

“Nope. No, no. It’s much worse.” He peeked over the wall then looked back at me. “He has a son, remember him, Bolg?”

“Uh…” I had to think for a moment. “Oh, yeah, yeah! Tall and scrawny, couldn’t beat up a fly if he had to. What about him?” Borim looked at me.

“You and I are thinking of a very different Bolg.” I looked up at him.

“What do you mean?”

“He’s been training. He’s got armor, every orc in all of Middle Earth is practically wrapped around his fat grubby finger.” I winced, leaning back heavily on the stone wall.

“Why does he hate me so much?” Borim looked at me like I was an idiot.

“I don’t know, it might be the fact that you got his father banished!” He spat back sarcastically. “That seems to piss people off pretty quick!”

“Yep that’ll be it.” I sighed. We sat there silent for a moment. “So what do I do?” He took my hand in his, like Ulric used to. He looked at me.

“Everything’s going to be ok.” He said, with a smile.

“You think so?” I asked. He sat there for a moment.

“Pfft! Who am I kidding, you’re gonna get clobbered.” He said he dropped my hand and stood up, looking around.

“Thanks, that’s big confidence booster.” I mumbled to myself.

“It’s what I’m here for.” He said, and then he turned the corner and was gone.

“What an ass.” I grumbled. I stood and turned. When I did this I found myself face to face with Kili. I was unable to suppress my gasp. “Kili you startled me.” He smiled a weak smile.
