Like Sheeps On The Hillside, Dan Bleats Meme-ily

Before Phil or the waitress could see him, Dan ducked down and hid behind a bush speckled with color from the flowers growing from it.  On the other side, Dan could hear two voices; one was high-pitched, yet sweet; the other was most definitely Phil's; it had the same overall structure of the other, but with a much smoother texture.  They were talking in almost whispers, as if they were contemplating something deeper than themselves, but Dan could not hear exactly what it was.
Dan leaned over, as to be able and read their lips, but, as usual, he clumsily stumbled over onto his butt, causing the girl, who was facing him, to look over curiously.  Dan stayed stuck in that position, silently praying that she wouldn't say anything to Phil.  Thankfully, she only shook her head and turned back around to face her, hopefully just, friend.
The long-legged gardener scooted further back behind the bush, contemplating whether he should sneak out of the park or go up and talk. Wait, if I go and say something to them, they'll literally see me crawl out from behind the bushes. That's creepy af.
Maya whimpered.  Ohmygosh I forgot she was with me.  Dan checked over the hedge again to make sure neither of them heard. After a few minutes of sitting in the cool grass and trying not to make a sound, a little yellow butterfly fluttered in front of his eyes. Maya saw this too, and she immediately followed it. Dan wasn't expecting this at all, he was too entranced in the conversation that he could not hear; he dropped the leash in surprise, and Maya flew off towards the panicked butterfly.
"Maya, no!  Come back!  Please!"  Dan loudly whispered, now sure that Phil had heard and seen him there.  The butterfly went off in another direction, and Maya was distracted from her chase by the presence of other people.  She bounced up the steps over to Phil and the woman, wagging her tail excitedly.
The woman cooed at Maya, "Awe!  Hey, cutie, where did you come from?" While she started to pet the pudgy pug and look for its tag, Phil looked over by where Dan was still sitting up stiffly.
"Louise, do you see someone behind the rose bushes there?"  From the hole in the bush where Dan was looking through, Phil looked terribly confused.
Louise answered, "Yes, I thought I might've heard someone.  Maybe the dog came from there?"
Phil responded, saying that he was going to check it out.  I'm done for...  As Phil approached the spot where Dan was hiding, Dan stood up quick, using his method of awkwardly talking himself out of a horrible situation.
"Hey, Phil... Oh my gosh!"  Dan went over to the troublemaking pug.  "Oh, Maya, I thought you were gone for good!  I'm so glad I found you!"
Phil's face twisted into a half confused smile.  "So she's yours?"
"No," Dan said, "she is a friend of mine's dog. I kind of wish I owned her, though; I need all of the exercise I can get, especially when she chases off after butterflies..."
Phil laughed. "Same, Dan. Oh, by the way," he motioned towards his friend, who came closer to them, "This is Louise. I think she may have waited for you a few mornings ago."
Dan felt so ridiculous. "Yes, I remember now! Thank you for the coffee and pancakes, Louise." Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Phil leaned over by Dan's ear. "And thank you for my coffee," he whispered. Jesus on a frickin' boat! "Hey, so... Louise and I were talking and..." Phil looked at the ground, still smiling, yet hesitant about something. "I was wondering if, since I'm not working today, if you'd want to come over to my flat?" Dan sheepishly gazed at the ground, knowing exactly what to say, but nervous about the results. Phil looked up.
     "How about it, mate?"
"I would love to."
