"Look alive, sunshine..."
"109 in the sky, but the pigs won't quit. You're here with me, Dr. Death Defying..." Dan mumbled the beginning of arguably the best My Chemical Romance album in existence in his half-asleep daze. It was Sunday, the day he was scheduled to do more gardening in the city park. Wow, I'm doing a lot of getting off my ass this weekend... Against his body's will, which was sore from yesterday's work, Dan clearly followed his thought process and, yet again, slid out of bed. This time, however, halfway out of the sheets, his foot got caught in the duvet, so he twisted his body and fell, his back landing flat on the floor with a thump. Nice save, Daniel.
It was about ten o'clock by the time Dan had dusted himself off and got dressed, and he was quite hungry for once. Since mornings are typically rushed for him, Dan decided to eat at a new cafe below his apartment building. Wait...  Better check Twitter real quick.
After spending another twenty minutes in his couch dent on social media, Dan finally picked himself up and walked downstairs, taking the elevator as to not make himself smell of sweat.  Once on the first floor, Dan hung a right and gently opened the cafe door with his hand in a yellow sweater paw.  Instantly, the sounds and sweet smells of Sunday breakfast goers filled his psyche.  Dan smiled and took a seat at a two person booth near the window.
"Good morning, sir, my name is Louise.  What can I start you off with to drink?"  A happy, blonde haired woman stood beside Dan, holding a notepad and pen at the ready.
"Morning!" Dan mumbled.  "I'd like some coffee, please."
     "With cream and sugar?"
"Yes, please."  Louise wrote his order on her notepad, said she would be "right back with it, sir," and stepped away in the direction of the table across the row.
The sun was already shining so bright outside, and Dan was relieved that spring weather was finally beginning.  It had been far too soggy out for Dan to enjoy sprouting new life in the soft, fertile soil in the grassy area in the back of the building.  Both his landlord and his parents were happy to see that the nineteen year old was taking part in events to brighten up the community.  Although he took a break from his undecided university degree, his parents were fairly young and understood his struggle to choose a path.  However, they did disagree with Dan's thought that Internet blogging was a real job.  I'm nineteen, I'll do wat I want.
Instead of staring at his lavender pants all morning, Dan searched for something to eat based on what someone else had.  Dan looked up, but he immediately put his head back down.  Ohmygod Phil is here!!  The punk boy sat just across from him, digging into a stack of blueberry pancakes.  Phil's black and white striped shirt fit perfectly upon his broad shoulders.  Dan noticed he also had gauged ears; they weren't large enough, it seemed, to take up the whole sides of his head, but comfortably sized.  Dan thought about getting some himself, yet he stayed complacent with the tiny yellow rose studs in his ears.
With perfect timing, Louise came back around to his table and dropped off his coffee.
"Do you know what would you like to eat yet?"
"Yes, ma'am, I would like a stack of blueberry pancakes, please... And send an iced coffee to the tattooed man over there, also.  Tell him it's from a friend."

Dan had just arrived at the park. Phil obviously hadn't known who the coffee came from, but Dan was too shy to get any closer to him. Why is this so difficult for me?! The colorfully dressed boy sat down at the bench near the entrance where he was supposed to meet Mrs. Rinspel's three children. She had told him they were about his age and would not be hard to spot in the least. Dan knew exactly what she meant when a maroon haired boy, deep blue haired person, and a brunette haired girl walked into the park, all three with small shovels and pots of flowers in hand.
Dan carefully walked up to them, so as to not scare them into dropping a pot, and introduced himself.
"Yo dawg, how's it hangin'," the shorter brunette girl said.  "I'm Sarah."
The blue person spoke up.  "I'm Emily."
"I'm Finn. It's nice to meet you," the last shyly stated.
Like their mother, they all had light, southern American accents.  They all seemed very pleasant... Except for Sarah.  She seemed extra..cool.  They immediately got to work pulling weeds and planting beautiful petunias in their place.  This job was so fun that Dan couldn't believe he was getting paid for plowing through weeds, as well as bad puns, with these three.
The sun was starting to set on the park, so the quintet, after exchanging phone numbers, said goodbye to each other and parted ways.  Dan walked to the opposite side of the park, stopping every once in a while to admire the work of previous landscape artists.  As he turned the corner out of the park towards his apartment, he tripped on someone else's foot and spun around completely on the pavement, only to be caught just before hitting the ground.
     "Phil?!?"
     "Daniel?!"
