"This was the most fun I've ever had," Dan said as Phil suddenly tackled him. The punk boy bombarded Dan by brushing his nose and piercings over the younger man's neck, which was meant to tickle. "Ah, Phil! Phil, now we have to edit this out, you bloody fart!" Phil lifted his torso off of Dan's body, yet remained in a position that was borderline straddling.
"Who says we have to? It's my channel." Phil said, smirking.
"Ugh, you're such a tease! And it's my channel, duh!" Dan looked adorably frustrated at Phil.
"I know, I just wanted to make you blush." It was true; Dan's cheeks were a light shade of rose. However, this softness from Dan, somehow a variant of his regular state, was wavering.
"I don't want people to think that... Never mind..." He spoke gently, yet with an underlying hint of embarrassment. Phil knew what he meant and nodded with understanding. The action was taken in by Dan and his sheepishness disappeared.
They had had such an amazing evening so far, and Dan's looks were astounding, as if they were on fire, but Phil was getting hungry. However, he wasn't about to let Dan go just yet. Phil stayed looking at him, the curly-haired boy gazing back up at him.
After what felt like an eternity, Phil felt Dan stir under him, so he let himself slide off the taller boy's legs. Dan looked as if he had something else to say, but closed his mouth. Somehow, though, the silence was comfortable. But then Phil's stomach growled.
"That's attractive," Dan snickered. Phil pretended to look shocked.
"Well, it's not my fault!"
"You were the one who decided to film the video instead of eating, dummy!"
"You could have declined it!"
Dan, for once, did not have a comeback. Instead, he asked, "Can we just get takeout?"
"What kind?" Please be Chinese, please be Chinese, please be—
"What about Chinese food?" Dan offered.
"YES!" Phil exclaimed.
---
After their food had arrived, the two lounged out on the sofa. Dan expressed his surprise that Phil enjoyed the same anime as him. Although there were a lot of choices from Phil's collection to pick, they both agreed on watching (well, re-watching) Death Note.
"Phil, you literally look like L," Dan noted with noodles hanging out of his mouth.
"Thanks. I always knew I had a dark, brooding, and overall mysterious appearance to me."
"But you're really more a flower on the inside."
"Dan, you're too sweet. Oh, and you should really use a napkin—you have soy sauce dripping from your mouth."
"Oh," Dan took the napkin that Phil held out for him and used it. "Thanks."
"Dan..." Phil sighed.
"What now?" He looked up again with more food in his mouth.
"Dan, you seriously just... The napkin only spread the sauce around your face."
"Well, I could just be saving it for later," Dan sassily stated. "If you're really that concerned, then why don't you just wipe it off yourself?"
"Don't worry, I will," Phil curtly replied. He leaned over to Dan's side of the sofa and used another napkin to wipe the excess food off of Dan's face; the flower boy pouted the whole time. "Oh, stop making that face. I'm trying to help you."
"Hmph. Well, could you help me with something more important." Dan's eyes drifted towards the Wii in the corner. "Let's say... A round of MarioKart?" So he's challenging me, eh?
"You're on after we finish eating! Dan versus Phil!"
---
"There's no way you one that!! Cheater! You're a dirty cheater with the frickinnn' blue shell!" Dan yelled. Phil, however felt proud of his victory over the so-called MarioKart "champion".
"Oh, shut up! Just because I'm better than you-"
"You're not better!" Dan shouted. He pulled his hands into the sleeves of his brown jumper and crossed his arms. Phil knew exactly what to do to get Dan off of his childish banter.
"You know what? I won't play guitar for you if you go on pouting the whole night." This'll get him to be a better sport.
Dan instantly shifted into an extremely interested and respectful persona, almost as he had acted the day he ordered coffee the week before. "Alright, alright. I'm in a good mood now. Do your thing." It was immensely impressive to Phil to see how Dan could easily shift his personality, and seeing that how that personality he displays in public is honest to who he is close up. Except that he's such a sore loser!
Phil stood up in front of Dan who had now criss-crossed his legs on the couch cushion and stared up amazedly at Phil. Okay, let's do this, Phil. You've got this. The punk went into his bedroom, leaned down, and picked up his black acoustic guitar. He didn't know which song in particular to play, but he enjoyed the band Muse a lot—maybe Dan did too.
Once Phil had seated himself on a chair adjacent to the sofa Dan was sat on, he began strumming through various songs and records, only pausing to check that his house guest was still interested. Sure enough, Dan remained looking at Phil, his chocolate colored eyes tracing Phil's every movement as if he was in the hospital and the guitar was his life support.
Soon enough, Phil decided that he was finished. He awkwardly set the guitar down, expecting Dan to say something horrible, but he was still sitting, still watching in awe with a soft expression. Suddenly, the pastel boy stood up, walked towards Phil, leaned down, and looked at him.
"Phil," he said, a smile tugging the ends of his mouth upwards and his dimple in. "That was beautiful." Phil smiled, too, and they ended up in the same position they were in hours ago—a soft embrace. "You should beat me at MarioKart more often."
AN:
I'm soooo proud of this chapter! Developing their relationship is somehow even more fun than the awkward start they had at the beginning of the story. And, yes, I had to play that card. You know which one.... But it's too good of an opportunity to pass up!
Anyway, thanks for over 200 reads, it means a lot! If you'd like, you can share this with your friends. I /will/ complete this fic, so you don't have to worry about it dissolving into internet dust.
Thanks again,
