"I hope you two have fun!" Louise smiled and started to walk towards the other side of the park.
"Are you sure you don't want to go with us?" Phil asked, wanted desperately to be as polite as possible in front of Dan.
Louise stopped for a bit and answered, "No, no. I have something else planned for later." She winked and finished with, "A date."
"Oooo, have fun then," Phil snickered.  Louise blushed lightly in response, turning and trotting down a dirt path.
Once Louise was out of sight, Phil turned towards Dan, whom looked panicked about something.  He is always nervous around me...  I hope it's about something else... As Phil thought this, he couldn't help but stand and stare at his potential friend. Dan's brown hair was neat, it seemed, but had become frazzled in the frenzy with his dog sitting. Phil looked at him for only a minute, but became entranced by Dan's soft aesthetic. How ironic; I'm supposed to be with a girl from some rock concert in the distant future... But Dan is so pret-
"Phil? I hate to rush you, but are we going soon?" Phil's head snapped back up into the reality of him having to who Dan to his apartment.
"Yes, of course!  Sorry about that," Phil stated quickly.  "After you."  Dan smiled and started walking beside Phil.  Once the two were successfully on the pavement that led leftwards towards "The Place", Phil decided to take the first step in what he hopes will develop his friendship with Dan.
"So, have you been living here long?"  Phil wanted badly to end the silence between them as they started moving, although the lack of speech was surprisingly not awkward at all.
Dan answered, "Yes-for about a year after leaving my parents.  I was at a university, but I couldn't find out what I was truly there for."
"Ah, I understand.  Are you still enrolled?"
"God, no!  I mean...  It was just too much."  Dan shook his head and softly laughed.  "My parents are happy that I'm at least doing something with my free-time now.  I have a part-time gardening job now.  Oh shit!"  Dan stopped dead in his tracks and ran his fingers through his smooth as bell-chime hair.
"What is it Dan?"  The garden boy remained in place, still with his fingers tangled in a mass of brown fluff.
"I forgot I had to work today!  And I STILL HAVE MAYA!  I NEED TO RETURN HER AND GO TO WORK AND-"
"Dan...  Hey, Dan, calm down..."  Dan continued to panic, and Phil had about run out of options to help calm him.  He tried putting an arm around his taller acquaintance, but Dan pushed every attempt away.  Phil then gave up and put both of his arms right around Dan's neck with his head facing towards the side; not a chokehold, but enough to where he would hopefully shut up.
"Dan, there's a bench just over there-c'mon, let's sit down." Dan didn't move for a second, on account of his obvious surprise at Phil, but then seemed to allow himself to led by the other man to the bench.
As they sat down, Phil untangled his arms from Dan's upper body. Thank god he stopped rambling... That was stressful, even for me!-And I'm the one usually in a panic.
"Okay, Dan?"
"Hm?"
"Dan, are you feeling any better?" Phil was suddenly determined to help Dan in any way he could.
"Oh... Yes, I think," Dan mumbled.
"Okay," Phil started. "What is the first thing that you need to get done? It is okay if you aren't able to visit with me."
"Um, well, first I need to bring Maya back home..."
"Okay, then we'll do that first." Phil stood up with his hand outstretched to the on-the-brink-of-back-to-being-normal Dan. The boy slowly took it, and they turned and began walking right, toward Dan's apartment building. The gardener boy squeezed the other's hand, and the black-haired boy with a drawn bundle of white and lavender roses spread gracefully across his shirt squeezed the other's hand back.

As they approached their destination, being the short, brick building which housed Dan and most of his friends, Phil stopped by the door and took a look at Dan.  With their hands still intertwined, Phil took his free arm and hugged Dan in a light sway.
"Shall I wait out here, or do you want me to come with you?"  Phil politely asked as he brought himself out of the hug.
"Yeah, sure.  It's just up here...  On the fifth floor ugh."
"Oh, stop being so dramatic.  I'm sure you've ran up the equivalent of ten of those staircases today with the dog chase... And stalking me," Phil snickered as he said the last part.  Dan laughed as well and looked down.  Both seemed to notice that they were still hooked on each other and let go quickly, delightful tension hanging in the air.
"Heh, heh...  Yeah," Dan sighed.  "Well, let's get going."
After jumping on the opportunity to ride the lift up to Dan's floor, they arrived outside of Marzia's door.  Phil watched as Dan knocked on the cold wood.
"Hello, Sophie?  It's Dan, I'm here to return Maya."  The door's lock clicked, and the door opened, a cute woman with curly brown hair behind it.
"Hey, Dan, I've been waiting for you to show up!"  She joked.
"So sorry about keeping her with me for so long; I just figured that you needed all of the beauty sleep you could get."
"Ah!  Dan, you prick!  I'll have PJ on your ass for the next century for that comment!  But...  I guess I have to let you in to feed Maya.  I have Edgar back here."  Sophie only prepared enough room on the door hinges for one guest, so Phil was hit by the closed door.
"Dan, did you hear that squeak?  Are there mice in here?"  She asked worryingly, Phil hearing the none sense conversation from behind the door.
     "Oh my god, Phil!"
Sophie was about to ask who this "Phil" was, until Dan swung open the door to reveal the man, who was clutching his nose in pain.  Upon seeing through the open door as Dan comforted him, Phil saw the girl behind Dan.
"Sophie?!"  Phil dropped his hand off of his face and looked at Dan.  "I didn't know you two knew each other!"
"Phil?  Dan, how did I not know that you two were together?"
"No, we're not together," Dan and Phil said in unison, glancing from each other to back at Sophie.
"Oh," she said.  "Well, then when did you meet?"
"Just last week," Phil answered.  "I was working the cashier position when Dan came through."
"Ah, I see.  Well, then, Dan, you had better feed Maya before she gets cranky...  And before PJ leaves from his parent's home and asks me where I am.  We're going on a date tonight."  She whispered the last part, while Dan snickered.  Both him and Phil knew they had been together for the longest time; they're about due for something special... I wonder when I'll get an invitation.
"Okay, Maya," Dan snapped Phil out of his thoughts. "Let's get some grub so I can head off to work."

---

Dan had finished laughing with Sophie and feeding the chubby pug, so Phil followed Dan to his flat across the hall so that the other boy could prepare for his work. Once inside, Phil watched Dan graze his hands through his soft hair in the mirror by the front door. Dan must have noticed this, as he slowly put his arms down, turned to face backwards, and slowly hugged Phil, a do-over from the previous hour of panic. Phil gladly went below Dan's arms which were on his neck and held the other boy's chest against his own; it was warm, comforting, and had a hint of wonderful floral sweetness.
