Whisk Me Away

After Dan had sat by Phil as he received explicit directions on how to treat himself from home by his friendly nurse, Amy (whom he learned was the girlfriend of Dr. Iplier), Dan closed the door to the room and began helping Phil into his regular clothes. Although he hadn't slept in over two days and was absolutely positive that he had very unattractive bags under his eyes, Dan tried his best to be calm and patient while his punk counterpart slid on black skinny jeans and a dark purple jumper over his pale skin; he was more than willing to do anything so that Phil could be comfortable.
Together, they had spent three days in the hospital, with Dan only occasionally leaving to pick up Chinese take out. Other than that, nothing could stand between him and Phil (although he was perfectly aware of the contagious illness).  I should just write 'me and Phil' across my forehead.
"What are you thinking about?"  Phil's raspy voice snapped Dan out of his daze.
     "Oh, nothing," Dan replied.
"Let's get going, then."  Phil was already standing, shakily however, and Dan left his place at the window to link arms with him, steadying him, as they walked out the door.
Over the length of the hospital visit, many of Phil's friends had come over as a surprise present after Dan had gone through his phone contacts while he was asleep. Phil looked extremely relieved to have familiar faces visit him while he was in a place that he was noticeably uncomfortable in.  However, guests always equal mess, so Dan had spent an hour this morning cleaning up an unfinished board game, throwing away deflated 'get well soon!' balloons, taking all of the flowers back to his apartment, and swinging back to Phil's to find him clothes for today.  The tasks were all manageable, but Dan knew that the next week held the tough job of aiding Phil in basically everything as he rested himself back to good health.  But it also means that I get to be in his flat for a while with endless cereal and video games.  And think of all the anime we would get through!  At this thought, Dan giggled inwardly.
Now outside the hospital on a damp bench from the previous night's thunderstorm, the couple waited for their ride to arrive.
"Dan, you're drifting off again," Phil said.  Dan turned to see that Phil had a small smile on his face that, along with the clear rainbow in the sky, instantly made him feel better.
Smiling back, Dan answered, "I'm just thinking about-"
"Dan!"  A young, very nice looking blond-haired man sprinted up to Dan waving and smiling excitedly, as if they were in a long-distance relationship and hadn't seen each other in months.  Dan stood up and met the significantly shorter man in a hug.
"I thought you said you were leaving yesterday!"  Dan exclaimed as they separated.
"Well, I was going to, but when you texted me what happened I knew I couldn't go back to L.A. just yet."  For a few seconds they stood beaming at each other, until Phil spoke up after a nervous cough.
"So, are you one of Dan's friends?" He looked over at Dan for help and he smiled back reassuringly.
"Yes! And you must be Phil? Dan has told me all about you." The young man smiled sweetly and reached his hand out for Phil to shake. "I'm Tyler - Tyler Oakley."
Phil nervously took hold of Tyler's outstretched hand, shaking it one good time before resting his arm back by his side.  I really hope Phil likes him...
"I really hope I'm not interrupting your morning," Tyler continued, snapping Dan back out of his thoughts.  Turning to Phil, he said, smiling, "If you'd like me to leave, I won't hesitate to go and let you rest."
"Um, well, since you're one of Dan's friends...  Sure, you can come over."  Phil still seemed uneasy about the situation, but Tyler smiled at him anyway.
Before Dan could ask the two what they wanted to do when they arrived at Phil's flat, an old yet seemingly well taken care of car pulled up to the curb, honking once while the driver reached over and pushed open the door.
"Late as usual, Chris," Dan joked.
"Yes, well at least I don't look like a rainbow got sick on me while a demon bargained trading my soul for bags under eyes." Dan rolled his eyes and laughed while Chris continued. "Are you getting in or not?"
"Well...  Since you're our only ride," Dan sarcastically stated.
Phil shrugged. "I guess we should trust him," he croaked, adding to the now (thankfully) light atmosphere.
"I guess I'll meet you there?" Tyler asked.
"Of course. See you in a few!" Dan answered gladly, extremely thankful that so many of his friends were around him.
As the blond padded away to his own mode of transportation, Dan helped Phil into the back of Chris' car where they both sat, long legs touching. Soon they sped away (a bit too fast for everyone's comfort) towards Phil's flat.
In the back of the car, Dan turned to speak to Phil, knowing that he had been uncomfortable during his exchange with Tyler.
"I want you to know, in case you're thinking it, there is and never was anything special between me and Tyler - I promise. It's just us." With this, he held Phil's hand in his own, looking at him with a sweet smile that instantly appeared to heal the punk's insecurities.
"Thank you, Dan. I love you."
By this point, Phil had sent Dan's mind reeling with joy, not only from the comfort of the stray bag of forgotten chips by his feet but from the first time he's said 'I love you'. Dan put his face closer to Phil's and, using his free hand, pulled Phil closer to himself.
"I love you, too."  When they leaned into each other in a gentle kiss, Chris' voice was heard from the driver's seat.
"Ugh, could you two get a room? Ever since you've fangirled to me about your new boyfriend, Dan, Peej and I have placed bets that you'll be married by 2022 at the soonest."  They broke the kiss to glare at him, and Phil spoke up.
"Shove off.  Let me make out with my man in the back of your car."  In conclusion, Phil grabbed Dan back in for round two of a new game they decided to call Let's Try To Get Chris To Kick Us Out Onto The Side Of The Street.

I was out for so long mainly because I am a procrastinating son of a - and due to some recent health problems of mine (which are sorted out now!)  Now all that is holding me back from regular updates is summer work and marching band camp.
Also, if you liked the chapter, drop a vote!  If not, I would love and really value some feedback on how my writing is holding up.  Be as critical as you feel necessary!
Whelp, thank you for your time - share this if you'd like someone else to suffer through the ship that is phan.
