Mattie POV

Setting: Tulsa OK

"Mattie come on let's go!" Two-bit screamed. We are going to a place called Castle Rock in Colorado. my aunt and uncle lived there, I haven't seen them in a long time so I am really exited.

"I'm coming two, give me a minute" I yelled back, he rolled his eyes and went to put his stuff in Darry's truck. Darry was practically my father, he was practically the father of every person in our gang that included Dallas, Johnny, Sodapop, Ponyboy, two-bit, Steve, and me. I ran out and put all my stuff in the truck, and sat in the front.

A long car ride afterwards we were in the small town of Castle Rock. We pulled in my aunt's house and I immediately saw my cousin annoying and jerk cousin, Ace Merill. "Come in" he said and rolled his eyes. Honestly I was surprised that he was even home, he's usually either getting drunk with his friends or drunk with his friends. Me and two walked in. I was already bored so I decided to go for a walk. I walked down the road a bit and saw a tree house with 4 boys and 2 girls. I smiled while watching them, wishing that I could have brought some friends, I asked but two-bit said no. One of the girls with black hair and tan skin walked out oh no i've spotted she walked up to me and said "hi, my name is hannah, do you wanna come in? You look hot" I nodded and said "My name is mattie" she- Hannah- smiled and pulled me up in the tree house. When I walked in, all the boys stared at me but one looked at me different, I don't know why. "Mattie this is Lily, Vern, chris, and Gordie" she pointed at each boy, but the one who looked at me different- Chris- smiled when I looked at him. He wasn't bad looking, if ya know what I mean. "Hi" I said shyly, and I sat down. "So mattie, where ya come from?" One-Gordie asked "Tulsa, Tulsa Oklahoma" everyone's face dropped faster than the titanic. It was a good 30 seconds before Chris said "Do you know, um, do you know Johnny Cade?" My face lit up "Yea! Johnnycake! I grew up with him" everyone smiled "He's our hero! the way he saved those kids knowing it could kill him! You grew up with him?" "Yea!" All of the sudden on was bombarded with questions but out of the blue and all the yelling, Chris said "kiss me" did he just, no, did I hear right? Before I could say "what?" He leaned in and kissed me, the whole world stopped for a minute. I don't know what just happened, but I think I like it.
