Asami
I just barely catch a glimpse of a blue suit as a man get’s thrown into the water below. The whole crowd turns to watch as three more men are thrown from the stands. Out from it all appears Bolin. He hops down two stories from where the president was standing. Now, he lands perfectly on the platform and rip off the sleeves of his jacket.
I gasp as one of the men that were just thrown down takes a shot at Bolin. He hops out the way in a flash and tosses an earth disk at the man. All three begin to attack him, but Bolin goes all out fighting them. He manages to knock one of them down while dodging the others’ attacks.
“Go, Bolin!” I yell from my seat.
The mover reels on behind Bolin, but no one is watching it now. Bolin manages to bend up a stack of earth disks. He uses everything he has to throw them at the two remaining men. He quickly takes another one out as he uses up all his earth disks.
His feet fly off the ground as he dodges another pile of attacks. Finally he pounces into the air and throws a perfectly executed earth disk right into the guy’s skull. He goes flying into a nearby wall.
Bolin gets another earth disk ready as he yells, loud enough for all of us to hear, “Tell me who sent you!”
The man cowers in fear at Bolin. Finally, he answers, “It was Varrick! Please don’t hurt me, Nuktuk!”
There’s a gasp throughout the crowd. I feel my head start to spin as everyone turns towards Varrick’s seat.
I quickly lose my footing and sit back down, placing a cold hand on my forehead. What was going on? Mako had been right all along, I realize quickly. Varrick was a fraud…and I trusted him. Flashbacks of my father hit me as more commotion goes on. I can’t believe it.
I tune back in when the regular probending announcer shouts, “It’s a knockout!”
Bolin throws his arms up in glory, accepting the cheers of the crowd.
After everyone clears out of the arena, I meet Bolin out front. I just barely catch a sight of Varrick as they haul him into a police car. I force myself to look away.
“Bolin, you’re a hero!” I tell him.
“I know!” he responds with a smile.
“Bolin! Could we get a picture?” one of the reporters asks. I step out of the shot and let Bolin have his moment. It isn’t long before Ginger comes running up, her silk white dress waving in the wind.
She takes us all by surprise as she plants a kiss on Bolin. His cheeks turn bright red.
“I can’t believe my boyfriend is a real life hero!” she says.
“Boyfriend? Wait, stop,” Bolin says, clearing his head. “I thought you said we weren’t a couple.”
“Oh, you really are as dumb as those rocks. Of course we’re a couple!” Ginger exclaims as she kisses him again.
That’s my cue. “Bolin, you proved Mako was right all along,” I remind him. “We have to go tell him.”
“Yeah!” Bolin agrees as he kisses Ginger again. “Oh, you meant right now.”
Just then, a loud grunt comes from the sky. Bolin and I turn to look at a gigantic fly bison swooping down at us.
Off the bison’s back hops off none other than Korra! I feel my heart skip a beat as she races over to the president. She’s alive! Is all I can think.
“President Raiko!” the Avatar says, “Sir, I know I’ve asked for your help before, but things have changed. Unalaq doesn’t just want to take over the South anymore, he wants to destroy the whole word.” Just as the words come out, Bolin and I approach.
“The whole word?” I repeat, but the words don’t quite come out.
“Unalaq wants to destroy the world? He really does have a doomsday device?” Bolin asks in shock, still thinking of his mover.
“He’s trying to let out a powerful dark spirit during Harmonic Convergence, which is only a few days away. If he succeeds, the world as we know it is over. Sir, we desperately need you’re help.”
We all turn to the president, who glances down at the ground. “I’m sorry, Korra, but my answer is still no.”
Everyone’s eyebrows shoot up. Did he just say no to saving the world?
“There are lives on the line,” Tenzin points out. “And my daughter is one of them. Raiko, you must reconsider.” I think of little Ikki and Jinora, out there somewhere needing help.
“I’m aware that lives are on the line. And that’s precisely why my troops are staying here. If the world is going to be thrown into chaos like you claim, I need to protect my citizens. I’m sorry.” His apology sounds dry and heartless, just like him.
Bolin decides to try and take a stab at it. “Sir, Nuktuk needs your help. I know you love helping people.”
“Son, I appreciate you saving my life, and I’m a big fan of your work, but my decision is final,” Raiko answers. With that, he leaves.
“I never should have saved that guy,” Bolin mutters.
“If you guys need help, I’m here for you,” I say, just incase it wasn’t ibvious. Korra smiles at me.
Bolin chimes in, “Yeah, me too.”
“Thank you,” Korra answers. “It’s so good to see you guys again. Wait, where’s Mako?”
