The Sweetest Rejection

The Sweetest Rejection

From the depths of emotions that swarm in my chest,
With affection and care that radiated without rest.
For the fourth time pain had filled the shattered jar,
With my endless cries filling the rooms afar.

Line by line I told him every thing that I had felt,
Hoping that the barrier around him would melt.
But every word seems to be colder than snow,
For his defense seemed unfazed like shielding the unknown.

He didn't ignored me like the other two from three years,
He did rejected me with my mind filled with fears.
But what he told me was something unexpected,
Because what he said didn't made me feel rejected.

He told me it was fine and we could remain friends,
He won't feel awkward when we'll meet at corridor ends.
He told me my love can never be reciprocated,
And all he can offer me is friendship like we're bit related.

For a moment I was worse than tongue tied,
For what he did to me was truthfully not lied.
Not because he would reject my confession,
But merely because he didn't push me out of motion.

He said, "We could be friends." That's what he said,
It gave me pain, yes, but not as worse as others did.
Yet it was sweet, maybe, sweeter than fiction,
For me, it seems like the sweetest rejection.
