See the light as it shines through the sea?
It's how she guides everyone to see,
What lurks within the shadows of the night,
To be our lamp is what she does with might.

See the way she glides from the starlit void?
Dancing with the planet and some asteroid,
It's how she used to have fun and smile,
Until she met him from the land of the hostile.

"An unknown being," she thought to herself,
"What a strange sight, indeed," said the lunar elf,
She watched from afar as he wandered aimlessly,
Thinking one day, he'll be away from pain, hopefully.

The man, dressed in black, traveled far and wide,
Looking for the missing piece the world did hide,
From him ever since he was left behind,
Through pitch black he wandered with his heart so blind.

From that day, she followed the man from afar,
Even as the world changed, she stayed like a star,
Constantly behind him, trying to give hope,
Hoping that the day will come that he won't mope.

Until from a distance he felt something familiar,
He looked up not to see her but a bright pillar,
Immediately, he knew where he must go,
And immediately, she knew, she had to go.

For she knew the man never needed her,
In a snap, in his eyes, she became a blur,
For the missing piece was found in the dawn,
And as the sun rises, the priestess was gone.

It kills her inside, but instead she gave a wide grin,
For her mission was done, but she made a mortal sin,
For she mustn't fall in love with a human being,
But for him, she'll overcome all, even if it'll sting.

All that's left of her are the stars that stayed still,
As he basked in the warmth, she shed tears like she's ill,
She was hurting but then she was glad,
For the man's ending wasn't so bad.

And now she's the one who wanders,
Still in pain but she kept sharing her wonders,
She may love him, but she won't tell soon.
For this is the secret of the priestess of the moon.
