I awoke from my brain surgery, and Ethan was sitting next to me. I blinked a few times, but my vision still wouldn't clear up. I squeezed his hand, and he opened his eyes, and smiled.
"Hey beautiful." he smiled, and I smiled back.
"Hey. How long have I been out?" I asked.
"5 hours. Your Aunt is getting dinner, and is bringing me back some."
"Let me guess, my parents aren't back yet, are they?" I asked, and he shook his head.
"No. We haven't heard from them. Um, so, how is your head?"
"Hurts. But I guess when someone opens it up, it's pretty common." I replied, and he chuckled.
"Still joking." he smiled.
Aunt Amanda entered a few minutes later, her favorite Chinese food in a bag, and she smiled at me.
"Welcome back, love." She spoke. She handed Ethan the food, before coming around and gently kissing my forehead.
"Where is Sadie?" I asked, realizing that when my parents left, no one could be there with Sadie.
"It seems like they might have taken her with them. I don't know though."
"Can I have my phone?" I asked, and they nodded, making me smile, before finding my phone, which had magically not been destroyed in the crash.
I quickly dialed a number, before putting the phone to my ear, using my good arm.
"The Nelson household." A voice answered.
"Mrs. Nelson, it's Harper. I was wondering-" I started.
"Sadie is fast asleep. She just got done talking to your parents, and went to take a nap." She replied, and I let out a sigh of relief.
"If my parents call again, can you tell them to call my Aunt Amanda's phone?" I replied.
"Yes, I can. When are you going to come home, Harper?" She asked.
"I don't know. I sorta can't right now. Tell Sadie I love her." I spoke.
"What-" She started, and I quickly hung up.

I was released into my Aunt's care a week after the accident. Aunt Amanda took me back to my house, and Ethan was standing out front with Sadie.
"I'm so grounded." I groaned, as Aunt Amanda parked.
"No, you won't. I'll take you with me if they do." She replied, and I sighed.
"I just have to survive a week." I spoke more to myself than to my Aunt.
She got out and came around and helped me out of the car. Sadie looked at me with wide eyes, as I used the crutch to stand.
"Sissy, what's wrong?" Sadie asked, as she skipped towards me.
"I just got hurt, Sadie. Nothing too bad. Come on, I have to show you my new glasses." I smiled, trying to make the best of this shitty situation.
We went inside and sat on the couch. I pulled Sadie onto my lap and kissed her hair gently and she looked at me.
"Here." Ethan spoke, handing me glasses, that I was now supposed to wear, since my vision didn't end up getting better.
I put them on, and Sadie giggled.
"You look silly." She smiled, and I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Thanks for the compliment, Sadie."

My parents called Sadie that night, but when she asked if they wanted to talk to me, they wanted nothing to do with me. I should've known, they didn't even know that I had almost been killed in a freaking head on collision.
"So, I was wondering if I could stay the night." Ethan asked Aunt Amanda, as she came and sat down with a cup of coffee. Sadie was in bed, and I was sitting on the couch, an ice compress to my ribs that were killing me.
"Did you ask your Mother?" Aunt Amanda replied, and I smiled at my boyfriend, who was blushing from the questioning.
"Yes, ma'am." He replied.
"Then sure. Why don't you help your girlfriend to her room. I'm staying in the guest room." Aunt Amanda spoke, winking at me before walking over, kissing the top of my head, and heading towards the guest room.
Ethan turned to look at me, and blushed.
"I never felt so uncomfortable." He admitted, and I chuckled, then winced from the pain in my chest.
"Want some of your medicine?" Ethan asked, quietly.
"Nope. I'm good. I just want to get to bed. And for my Aunt, she has always been like that."
"I need to get more used to her."
"Why?" I asked, as he helped me to the stairs.
"Because if your parents are still being shitty, you might stay with her, right?"
"I have no idea." I admitted. He went silent as we continued to take the stairs slowly. I hated how he felt bad about this, but it was my life now, just a bunch of shitty moments with the people I thought really loved me.

When my parents got home, I had a suitcase on my bed, ready in case they wanted me out. I heard Sadie squeal, and I woke up slowly, not even really seeing what was around me, because everything was so damn blurry.
"Ethan, can you hand me my glasses?" I asked my now awake boyfriend. He found them and passed them to me. I put them on awkwardly with my good arm and sighed.
"Harper Rose, get down here!" My father screamed, and I frowned as I looked at Ethan.
"Wanna help me?" I asked, and he nodded. He kissed me gently before he helped me out of bed.
We walked slowly out of my room, and then even slower down the stairs.
"Harper, where the hell did you go?" Dad swore, before even turning to look at me.
"I left because I didn't like what was happening."
"That is no-" He started, before going silent, as he looked at me, and so did Olivia.
"Harper, what did you do?" Olivia breathed, and I frowned.
"I got into a car accident, but you would've known, if you answered your phones or wanted to talk to me when you called my sister every night." I replied, frowning.
"How?" She questioned.
"I threw my phone in the back seat, and when I turned back, I was hit." I limped over to the couch, and sat down slowly.
"Glasses?" Dad asked.
"I had a brain bleed, Dad. I had brain surgery. Aunt Amanda had to sign the slip telling them that they could, because my parents didn't care enough." I frowned.
"We didn't mean for this to happen, Harper. Please, forgive us." Olivia breathed, and I shrugged.
"Every time we apologize to each other, we always end up fighting again. Is this for real?"
"Yes. It is. Come on." Olivia spoke, and she gently wrapped her arms around me and I cried quietly.
"I hope so."
