"How long have you two been broken up?" Lark asked as he followed me inside. I looked at him and sighed.
"Since before Christmas. It doesn't matter." I replied, and he grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop. I looked at him and he was staring at me, his eyes searching my face.
"What did he do?" He asked, and I bit my lip.
"He slept with Liza, and got her pregnant. We had agreed to be faithful, but he didn't care." I spoke, and I heard my mother call my name again. I looked between the open door and Lark.
"I'll see you in a few minutes." I spoke. I quickly stepped towards him, leaving a gentle kiss on his cheek, and then I ran towards the door, ready to help with the last minute dressing things.

The wedding was beautiful, and Aunt Amanda and Dominick were adorable together. We went outside and took pictures, and Lark stood next to me, his arm wrapped around me.
We walked away and let Aunt Amanda and Dominick got pictures taken, and Lark found me standing by a tree, watching the picture taking process in silence.
"Hey." He breathed, and I looked up and smiled softly.
"Hey. Sorry about having to make you act like my boyfriend." I spoke, and he shook his head.
"I'm fine being able to fake being your boyfriend." He smiled, and I blushed slightly.
"Why?" I asked, and he chuckled.
"I really like you already, Harper. I know that this might be weird, but I'd like to date you." He spoke, and I blushed an even deeper red.
He stepped forward and pushed some hair out of my face. I looked up into his eyes as he brushed his thumb across my cheek, and then he lowered his lips to mine.
I let his lips kiss mine, and I kissed him back. It wasn't long before he had his hands on my back, and I had my arms snaked around his neck.
He pulled away after a long moment and our breaths mingled.
I had felt fireworks. I felt like my body was tingling, and I knew that I had never felt like this.
We looked deeply into each others eyes and I swallowed hard.
"That was-"
"Amazing." Lark spoke, ending my statement.
I looked behind him to see Aunt Amanda motioning us to come, and I knew we were heading to the reception.
"We should go." I spoke, and he nodded slowly.
We walked away and when we reached the cars, my mother pulled me to the side.
"Did I just see you kissing Lark?" She asked, and I blushed.
"Yes." I breathed, and she smiled.
"He's a sweet boy. I'm happy for you."
"We aren't together, Mom!" I exclaimed, but I had a feeling that it wasn't going to be long before we were.
"Still. Seeing you smile again is amazing." She spoke, and I groaned.
"Get in the car, Olivia." I spoke and she laughed.

I stayed busy making sure my siblings were behaving themselves that night. I also used them as an excuse to avoid Ethan and Liza.
"I brought you something." I heard, and I turned to see Ethan. I swallowed hard and crossed my arms.
"What could you have possibly bought to give me?"
Ethan sighed and crossed his arms over his chest.
"An apology." He spoke, and I rolled my eyes. Why was he so cheesy?
"Go be with your fiance, Ethan." I spoke.
"Please." He spoke, and I sighed.
"I'm done with you and your shit, Ethan. I just want to be able to move on, and I have." I spoke. I turned and smiled at Lark, who started to make his way over to me.
"Harper, I really think we should try again." He spoke, and my eyes went wide.
"You are engaged to Liza! She is going to have your son soon! We can't!" I exclaimed, and Lark walked up to us.
"Babes, wanna dance?" He asked, and I was quick to nod.
"Douche, I was kinda talking to her." Ethan spoke, his voice sharp.
"Well, Douche, I don't give a flying fuck. Now, back away from my girlfriend."
Lark grabbed my hand and led me away from Ethan, I moved closer to him, and he gave out a small sigh.
"If he comes near you again, I'll kick his ass." He spoke, and I stopped him as we neared the floor. I grabbed his hands and smiled.
"Thanks, Lark. Now, let's just dance."
We danced to several songs, then wandered outside. We stood in the cool air, and Lark took his suit jacket off and draped it over my shoulders. I looked at it and smiled.
"You have a ton of pins, Lark."
"Yeah, I'm a bad ass." He chuckled, and I smiled.
"Clearly." I replied.
We stood in silence, before he stepped behind me and held me to his body.
"Can I tell you something?" I asked, and he kissed the back of my head.
"Of course."
"When we kissed, it was amazing. I had never felt fireworks like that. Lark, I never wanted to stop kissing you."
"I felt the same. Harper, I'm going back to Georgia, back to my station, and I want you to come with me." He spoke, and I turned around to look at him.
"What?" I asked.
"I don't know if I can stay away from you. I know that we just met, but I swear, we have something special." He spoke, and I bit my lip.
"I'm in college, Lark."
"I know, and your Aunt is super proud of you." He spoke, and I smiled.
"Well, when can you come back up?" I asked, and he shrugged.
"I don't know. That's why I want you to come down. Then I can see you everyday." He spoke, before kissing my forehead gently, like he was sealing a letter with a kiss.
"I'll have to see if I can get my credits transferred to a college down there." I breathed, and he smiled before kissing my lips.
"Emory University has a good law school." He spoke, and I chuckled.
"Harp, can you come back inside?" My father asked, and the moment was broken. I nodded.
"One moment." I spoke, and my Dad smiled before going back inside. I took Lark by the hands, and pulled him down a few inches, and then kissed his lips softly.
"Let's go back inside before I get to see a repeat of my parent's wedding."
