Indian girl
Singing so sweet
Watch as she dances
Swirling her shawl
Stamping her feetThe music plays and she gets lost in it
The wind in her hair
The jingle in her regalia
Her braids fly about
As she hears the final drum hitAnd she stops and opens her eyes
She was dancing the whole time
Filled with the emotions of her people
Beautiful.Poet Talk Time!
Hello my poetic friends! How is everyone? I genuinely mean that, and if you want to, tell me in the comments! I love you guys and care about how you feel!
So, my in-real-life friends know this, but you other readers may not. Some of my poetry is based off of songs! Songs without lyrics most times. I write about how the song makes me feel.
We went on a road trip to Dowagiac on Saturday, to clean up a highway for Earth Day! I'm Native American for those of you that don't know, and the Earth Day highway clean up was for Adopt-a-Highway. My tribe had adopted M-162 (I think), and we were cleaning it. In total, we found 44 bags of garbage on a 2 mile stretch of road, which makes me so sad. I found a dead bird in one of the soda can loopy things and I cried. It made me so sad, but I was also happy to make a difference, no matter how small.
Anyway! That's not the story for this one. I was rambling. I had my headphones in on the way there, and I was listening to A Tribe Called Red, which is Electronic Pow Wow music. I love it. But as I was listening, I closed my eyes and faced the sun through my open window, and was transported somewhere else.
Suddenly I was a jingle dress dancer, dancing to the beat of the music in an open field in the sun, and I felt so free. I love traditional dancing like that. This little vision is what inspired the poem. The sheer enjoyment that I got from just the song. The warmth of the sun on my face, and the sweet sorrow of being somewhere peaceful (because it only lasts so long).
That's about it for this. My note is now longer than my poem. It's been like this for the last few updates. Either way, I love you guys! Bye lovelies!

PoetryThis book is full of ORIGINAL poetry by me! They vary a lot on what they're about, and if there are trigger warnings, I will put it in the chapter title. I've been wanting to do this for a while, and a couple of my friends recommended I do it, so I...
