Feel the energy
Of the windBite against
Your skinRelease all of
The power withinAnd just for a moment
Feel free as a birdRemember everything that
You've learnedAnd forget all the
Bad things you've heardAnd breathe.
Notey McNote Time!
I wrote this one on a SUPER windy day. I love the elements, and guys - GUYS - I love them with a passion. If there's a thunderstorm, I don't care what time it is, I'm outside in the midst of it or have my window open. If there's extreme wind, I'm out there in a t-shirt and shorts with no shoes just to feel the energy of the earth around me. If there's a bonfire, I'm sure as hell going to be sitting by it and playing with it - while being careful of course. Warm summer day? I'll walk around the park in the grass barefoot. I feel the energy of the earth around me, and I feel the power in living and non-living things.
Anyway, so that day was very windy. Like, I was getting blown around with my 10 pound backpack on windy. So I took my uniform hoodie off and stood on a rock and just breathed it all in... Until my sister pushed me off the rock and into the woodchips.
The wind, in my (very short) hair, as it pulled at my t-shirt, as it pushed me around, and as leaves swirled up and down in cascades that matched the beat of my music, inspired me to write this poem. And I implore you, next time it's so windy you can barely stand, take your hoodie off and just stand there. Become hyperaware of every leaf, every wrinkle in your shirt, every whip of the locks of your beautiful hair, become hyperaware of your surroundings, and just feel it. Not with your hands or your skin, but with your heart. Become one with the weather for just a moment, and then you'll see what I mean.
I'm going to start signing off with a screen name. It's going to be Magnolia. I'll probably reveal my true name to you once some family drama blows over, but for now, I'm Magnolia. I love you all, buhbye dearests!
