It's Time For us To Take The Next Step(Ethan)

"Hey babe, are you awake?" You heard Ethan whisper in the bed next to you.

"I am now." You said.

"I'm hungry. Let's go get breakfast." He said as he wrapped his arm around you.

"E, it's almost noon. It's not breakfast time anymore." You laughed.

"Okay, let's go get brunch then." He laughed, kissing you on the cheek.

"I'm hungry too. C'mon, let's go." You said. You both got out of the bed, got dressed and made your way to a cafe for brunch.

"It's such a nice day, can we sit outside?" You asked the hostess when you walked in. She nodded and took you to a table outside on the patio. You sat down and ordered your drinks and you and Ethan just sat there chit chatting, random conversation topics, but they were all fun. You and him were always able to have light and fun conversations together. About halfway through your meal, an older woman came up to you with a wide smile on her face.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt, but I couldn't help but notice how happy you two are with each other. You remind me of my husband and I when we were your age. You two make a beautiful couple. I hope you make it as long as we have." She said as she glanced over to who you assumed was her husband.

"Awe, thank you." You smiled.

"How long have you and your husband been married?" Ethan asked her.

"We've been married almost 52 years." She said.

"Well, we've got a long way to go." Ethan said as he smiled at you. The woman smiled at both of you, said good bye and walked off.

"She was sweet." You said as you turned back to Ethan.

"She was." He agreed. "Hey, can I ask you something?" He said after a moment of silence.

"Sure, what's up?" You asked.

"Have you ever thought about that? About us getting married, starting a family, all that." He asked. You smiled and nodded.

"I have. I've thought about it a lot, actually." You admitted.

"So have I. I have been thinking about it a lot more recently. We've been together almost four years. Maybe it's time for us to take the next step in our relationship." He said.

"Ethan, what are you-" You stopped mid sentence as he backed away from the table, walked over to you and kneeled down in front of you.

"I've been trying to find the right time to do this, but now seems as good a time as any." He said as he pulled a small box out of his pocket. He flipped it open to reveal a beautiful diamond engagement ring. "(Y/N), you make me the happiest guy in the world, and I love you more than anything. Marrying you has been the only thing on my mind for the past few weeks, and I want nothing more than to call you my wife. Will you marry me?" He asked.

"Ethan, oh my god. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes." You said as the tears started to fall. He smiled and slipped the ring on your finger.

"I love you baby." He whispered as he kissed you, causing everyone around you. You'd forgotten that you were in public and tons of people had just watched you get engaged.

"I love you too." You whispered as you hugged him. After the initial shock and feelings settled, you took pictures at the table, of your ring, with each other, and typical "we just got engaged" photos. You couldn't wait to post the pictures and share your news. You were so happy that you and Ethan were going to get married and spend the rest of your lives together.
