One Day Later
Dean climbs into his new new car in anger, slamming the driver's seat door with so much force that it was surprising the door didn't come off! The reason that this man was so mad? Welllll, his other car (the mini van) ran over a pothole at top speeds (he drives fast when he's angry) and literally flipped a few times; landing on the roof in the end.
The car was completely trashed and dented while Dean himself walked away with almost no wounds, that still didn't help his mood. So now, Dean was stuck with a large-ass van that he found broken down on the side of the road, the Hydra symbol boldly painted on each side of the vehicle.
The vehicle itself had computers and other fancy gimmicks all over it, Dean decided to leave it all alone till later; only willing to fix the engine so he could actually drive. The other thing that got Dean all riled up was that Sam was not answering her phone.
Even if the two were in a huge fight, like this one, there was always this unspoken rule of either answering the phone or at least sending a text to show that the other was still alive and well. Sam hadn't done any of that, for a whole thirty hours and counting.
So, Dean now had his mind set on the worst as he retraced his tracks back to where he had dropped Sam off in the first place; there was no one. Dean's eyes scan across the area, watching for sudden movement or any clues that could lead him to where Sam had gone missing.
The only clues that came up a few minutes later were the hole where they had found the shield, that Sam took with her, and a large hole leading into a deep cave. Dean, while shrugging to himself, decided to head towards the cave; his curiosity getting the better of him just as it had for Sam thirty hours before.
Dean grabs his gun and flashlight from his bag in the car before walking into the dark cave, his breathing slow and his movements quiet. As he got deeper and deeper into the cave, Dean started to have doubts that there'd be any trace of life in there because of the spikes that hung from the walls and ceilings but his gut told him otherwise.
Finally, Dean had reached a fork in the cave. Where Sam lay between them both, the shield laying on top of her chest that rose and fell almost rhythmically. There was another gash on her forehead, bleeding worse than the one on their first mission had.
Dean quickly drops to his knees, dropping both the flashlight and gun, as he checks her over for other harmful wounds. Right when Dean touches her elbow, Sam's eyes fly open while she thrusts the shield into his chest; causing him to fly back slightly as she got up in a fighting stance.
"Who the hell are you?" Sam demands.
"It's me-"
"No! I want a name!" Sam interrupts while raising the shield higher as Dean grabs the flashlight that had rolled near his foot.
"Dean. It's Dean." He replies while lifting the flashlight beam to shine on his face.
"Oh, hey Dean." Sam awkwardly waves while lowering the shield slightly.
"What the hell did you do?!" Dean demands.
"What do you mean? I was taking a nap." Sam lies.
"Yeah, that gash on your forehead is really helping you fall asleep isn't it?" Dean sarcastically fires back.
"Okay! I heard a sound down the left fork and jumped and ended up hitting my head." Sam groans, knowing that he wouldn't let it go otherwise. "Please, calm down alright?"
"What kind of noise was it?" Dean questions.
"I don't know...groaning, something like someone was pounding on a metal object." Sam shrugs. "I was gonna go check it out anyways."
"Without calling? What if something happened?" Dean demands.
"Well, we were fighting and I knew you'd start something like this." Sam rolls her eyes. "So I didn't. Plus, I got this cool ass shield."
"Sure helped you now didn't it?" Dean raises his eyebrows.
"Are you gonna help me or not?" Sam whines while placing her hands on her hips, Dean opens his mouth to reply but a banging (and groaning) sound interrupts him from down the left fork; just as Sam had described. "Well? I wanna know who's down there!"
"Yeah but...get behind me." Dean orders.
"Oh no!" Sam yells. "I have the shield/protection. You're behind me."
