Sam ended up between crates and the wall of the tent about five minutes after she and Ward had their little 'fallout'. Ward had come into the tent maybe two minutes after she had gotten herself settled and Steve was still unconscious. That is until they decided to pour a bucket of freezing water on his head. Steve sputters as he opens his eyes, instantly recognizing where he was and how much shit he was in.
"Captain Rogers." An agent smiles, who Sam assumed to be a general of some sorts, and steps from the crowd. She had brownish black hair wrapped in a tight bun with glasses on the tip of her nose. She wore a green jacket with some kind of stretchy pants and combat boots. "My name is Draco."
"Someone hated their child," Sam whispers under her breath, the woman continues.
"Where is your accomplice? I know that she is here." Draco coldly states. "And if you do not talk soon, both you and she will pay along with every member of your so-called team."
"There's no one else here." Steve gruffs and winces as the two agents that were holding him increase their strength on his wrists.
"Oh, you really are America's golden boy, you cannot even lie well." Draco cackles. "So, Captain. I'll give you one last chance."
"To what? I don't know where anyone is." Steve hisses. A loud smack rings through the room, Sam winces as she watches Draco shake her hand and stick it back down by her side. Sam's eyes catch on the shining of Steve's shield that lay a few feet away from her. She slowly leans over and grabs it, wrapping the straps around her arm within seconds.
"I was being courteous to you, Captain." Draco hisses while sticking her face in his. "Now, you have made me angry."
"I told you-"
"Alright, alright." Sam interrupts while standing from her spot the shield glimmering on her arm. Almost everyone stops and glares at her but Steve looks at her with a worried expression. "Now, you all know how much I love watching you try to become all scary and shit but when you hit a teammate, now that's when I gotta step in."
"What're you going to do?" Draco laughs while turning away from Steve.
"Oh, what am I not going to do?" Sam chuckles back while stretching her back. "I mean, it's been a rough afternoon and I really need to let go of some steam."
Dean
Dean walks while rolling his shoulders because of the pain that was coursing through them. Logan and Charles stand by his side as they lead him to an alleyway. Soon Dean collapses on himself with a groan. Charles watches helplessly from his chair as Logan tries to pull him up.
"No." Dean gasps while holding his stomach. "I...it has to be here."
"We cannot do it here, Dean," Charles warns. "I'm sorry but....people will know if we are not far enough away."
"You both will just have to tell the right story." Dean hisses while screwing his eyes shut.
"Good luck, kid," Logan mumbles while clapping his shoulder. "You've made us all proud."
Dean nods in thanks, unable to speak anymore. Slowly, both Logan and Charles start to back away from his convulsing body. Logan bites his lip and turns away from his son's body, unable to look at it any longer.
Sam
Sam stands over the bodies of the fallen agents, her body red from anger and her eyes almost a pure white. She blinks and they return to her normal shade, Steve stands across the room with a cautious look. Sam's hands shake as she drops the shield to the ground with a loud clatter.
"They aren't dead." Steve slowly states.
"W-what did I do?" Sam demands, her voice shaking.
"I don't know," Steve mumbles while slowly walking across the room, Sam quickly takes a few steps back. "Sam. Please."
"Steve, don't." Sam shakes her head. "I can't....I don't know how to control it.....I don't even know what it is!!"
"Then we can do this together. Alright?" Steve offers. "We'll work through it."
"How do you know?! I cannot do this, I'm not a superhero! I'm an orphan from Brooklyn who's been alone all my freaking life!" Sam screams.
"You're not an orphan." Steve shakes his head. "Really, you're not."
"Oh yeah? How am I not?" Sam rolls her eyes as Steve starts to walk closer again. Finally, he stops in front of her and sighs.
"Because I'm your father and I'm sorry-"
A large explosion cuts Steve off. Sam screams as it starts to shake the ground, almost as if an earthquake was ripping through the land. Both Steve and Sam grab each other's hands as the tent begins to fall around them, Steve starts to run with Sam close by his side. The two break from the tent just as it collapses behind them, the fallen agents still inside. The ground still shakes and they all fall onto the ground in heeps, each breathing heavily.
"What's going on?!" Sam screams over the noise of the crumbling around them.
"I don't know!" Steve yells back. Quickly he pulls Sam up again and starts running off to a building that seemed to be standing the craziness of whatever was going on. He kicks the door open and rushes them both inside before slamming it shut behind them both.
Sam slides down the wall and lets her head drop against the door as Steve crosses his arms and leans against it. Their moment of peace doesn't last long because Sam gasps when she looks out to see people huddling around across the room.
"It's Captain America." A little girl whispers.
"Are you the good guys again?" A man demands. "Are you here to save us?!"
Both Sam and Steve look at each other for a second, as if communicating and not all at the same time. "Yeah." Sam nods while turning back to the crowd. "We're here to save you guys."
