Chapter Twelve

Dean pulls up to the location where the base should have been with a sigh, Sam crawls to the front and looks at the giant mountain in disgust. "There's nothing here, Sam. You must have put the coordinates in wrong."

"I did nothing of the sort," Sam grumbles in anger while grabbing the shield. Dean shakes his head as he watches her climb out of the van and head towards the side of the mountain. Everyone leans towards the front of the car to watch her walk along the base of it, her eyes scanning the ground as she kicked up the grass with her feet.

"She's not going to find anything." Dean sighs while running a hand through his hair.

"Shut up, Dean!" Sam screams from in front of the car.

"And she heard me," Dean mutters. "I'll pay for that later."

Sam rolls her eyes as her foot snags against something in the ground, she furrows her eyebrows and kneels down while putting the shield onto her back so she could use both hands. Sam moves her hands across the ground again until they snag on a metal-like pole sticking up from the ground.

"What the hell?" She mutters while pulling it towards her. A sound comes from inside the damn mountain, Sam quickly stands and starts walking back towards the van in fear. A large door starts to open as she awkwardly climbs into the vehicle.

"What the hell did you do?" Dean questions.

"I uh...I hit a metal pole." Sam mutters as Dean starts driving into the tunnel.

"Have you guys even checked this place out?" Scott questions. "I mean, you're just going to go in without checking it out?"

"We're winging it." Sam shrugs. "It's kinda what we do."

"That's dangerous." Jean comments.

"Yeah, we know." Dean shakes his head as they come to an end of the long and winding driveway. Sam climbs out of the van first with the shield raised, her eyes looking back down the drive; watching the door close behind them.

The place sits in a pitch black darkness for what seems like hours but was only a minute or two before illuminating in bright lights which revealed a large garage with other cars parked around them.

"Didn't notice these ones," Dean comments while admiring one of the older looking vehicles.

"Is this a Stark base?" Logan questions while gesturing to the 'S' above the doorway that most likely lead further into the base.

"One way to find out," Sam mumbles before walking towards the doors, ignoring the eye roll she received from Dean.

"Aren't you going to stop her?" Charles questions.

"I already tried that hours before." Dean shakes his head. "Then we found you guys."

Later

In the end, the base ended up to be one that Tony Stark had built as a fail-safe in case something were to ever to wrong. Obviously, that plan failed big time. Sam and Dean had helped everyone into the medical wing and stitched up the wounds that they couldn't help themselves before the two went off to explore the base without the X-Men.

"So, rooms are on the third floor." Dean lists off while looking down at his notepad. "Kitchen and living area are on the fourth, medical is in the seventh, the garage is on the first, workout and training are in the second, a friggin empty floor on the sixth, a lab on the eighth, and a floor of computers on the ninth. Right?"

"Yeah." Sam shrugs. "But don't forget the larger living room on the tenth."

"I'm calling it a movie theater." Dean nods.

"Alright." Sam chuckles. "Let's head to the ninth floor and see if I can hack into anything that would help us out. Sound good?"

"Yeah, I'll call down to the medical room and let them know." Dean nods while pulling out his cell, dialing the number that was on a piece of tape near the phone they had found on level 7. Dean talks for a while as they stepped into the elevator while Sam looked around at the walls. The doors open and they both step out, Sam's eyes lighting up at all the computers around.

"Oh, this is heaven!" Sam cheers, Dean laughs before bidding whoever had picked up the phone goodbye.

"So, what uh...what are you going to do?" Dean questions.

"I'm gonna see if I can hack into anything from this gorgeous room." Sam breathes.

"I can show you something more gorgeous," Dean mutters under his breath.

"Oh really?" Sam challenges. "If it's beer, then sure...otherwise there isn't anything better."

"Oh, I bet there is," Dean smirks while backing Sam up against the wall, placing both of his hands on either side of her body.

"Oh, Dean." Sam lowers her voice with her own smirk. "I don't think this is better than beers."

"I'll prove you differently." Dean darkly replies before smashing his lips onto her own, resting his hands on her hips.

Later
(bc gross)

The next morning, everyone met up on the fourth floor with tired expressions. "So, if you're all alive. Doesn't that mean that the Avengers are out there too?" Sam questions out loud while pacing across the floor.

"We remember that we were all kept in the same base before they separated us," Charles explains.

"That's it?" Dean demands.

"Uh, yeah." Scott nods.

"Alright, then I guess we'll just go to the base where you were last kept." Sam shrugs.

"We're not going to be able to be much help, we're still healing." Jean shakes her head.

"Then Dean and I will go," Sam replies. "It's not that big of a deal."

"No, that's not happening." Logan shakes his head.

"And why not?" Sam questions.

"Because you two can't take down a base, if they still have the Avengers then they will be doubling the guards," Scott explains.

"We got you two out. I took out other guards." Sam looks up at the ceiling. "Think we can handle this."

"No, that is out of the conversation now." Jean shakes her head again. "You guys are not going."
