Chapter Fourteen

Sam sits with her computer close to her face, her fingers flying across the keyboard. Occasionally, Sam would reach into the bag of chips next to her and grab a few, shoving them into her mouth before continuing on with her typing rage.

Sam didn't know what she was looking for, she just knew she had to find something. Find something that would take her mind away from deciphering the web of lies that Dean had spun since she had known him.

A large and loud error notification screams from her computer speakers, causing Sam to shriek and jump from her bed in her dazed state. Quickly, Sam sits up with her blanket covering her head as her eyes narrow at the computer in front of her.

Error, the following document you are trying to open contains information that is not available to you. Get off this page before Hydra sends someone to make you.

Sam smiles and cracks her knuckles before jumping onto the bed, pulling the computer onto her lap. "Oh, you do not believe in my skills, sir. Now, you challenge me." Sam talks to herself with a smile, only shaking her head at the fact that she was still talking to herself.

Dean

Dean sits with the rest of the X-Men with his arms crossed, his eyes looking back down the hall towards Sam's room and back to the group. Charles went to his own space after being interrogated from everyone, now they all just sat in silence.

"Why the hell would Charles tell her?" Logan shakes his head before dropping it into his hands. "We had this perfectly set up so that she could live her life without Hydra doing something like that."

"You don't think I know that?" Dean seethes. "I spent my life protecting her!"

"Hydra did kinda figure you guys out though." Scott shrugs. "I mean, look what's been happening!"

"I blame her a little bit too." Jean shrugs. "Didn't you see what happened? She dug deeper and deeper into everything that caused them all to want to come after you guys. If she would've left it alone, you probably would still be in your apartments."

"And you guys would be dead." Dean deadpans. "I'm not saying that she's innocent in this but we all had a part to play. Sam is a smart girl, she was going to figure it out sooner or later. It was just a matter of time!"

"How do you know?" Logan demands. "How do you know if you would've left this alone that she wouldn't still be sitting in her apartment?!"

"Because she's a hacker! She loved digging into Hydra's secrets to try and find stuff!" Dean screams as he stands, Logan soon standing as well.

"Well, why didn't you stop her? Try harder?" Logan roars.

"Because maybe I wanted to believe that my father was actually alive and actually cared about me!" Dean yells. "Because maybe I had a hope that she could actually save you guys and we'd all team up to defeat Hydra together. Save everyone once and for all!"

"That's a bunch of bull-"

Sam

Sam's eyes widen as she sees more and more video footage of the Avengers being held captive and beaten practically to death. Slowly, the chip bag drops to the ground causing them to go everywhere on the ground, creating a huge ass mess. Sam's mouth opens as wide as it will go as her head falls back against the wall.

"Oh my God." She whispers. "They're alive! I knew it!"

Quickly, Sam stands and grabs the uniform that she had worn on the first mission she had with Dean. Sam fills the pockets with weapons and devices that would help her before putting the shield on her back with a small smile.

"This'll be fun."

Dean

"You can't possibly blame me for this!" Logan screams in anger. "I made this deal to save your damn life."

"Look where we are now!" Dean yells back. "We're in an abandoned warehouse hiding from the enemy when we could be fighting alongside the Avengers to fix this mess that Hydra created!"

"Do you honestly think that's going to work?" Logan scoffs. "Do you think that this'll all turn out great, like some stupid fantasy?"

"No, but we can at least-"

"Dean! This isn't some fairytale. This life we're living? This is real! Nothing is going to get better, noth-"

Sam

Sam steps through her bedroom door and hears all the shouting down the hall. She closes her eyes and lets out a breath before walking down the opposite way but a voice stops her. "Samantha."

Sam stops and tenses her shoulders before turning around slowly to face Charles. "Please don't say anything! I won't get hurt, I promise!"

"All I was going to say was be careful." Charles offers a smile while waving his hand before handing her a com to place in her ear. "Just..do not be afraid to call if you really do need help."

"I won't." Sam smiles. "I promise."

"Good, now go before they come and find you." Charles orders as Sam turns around and runs towards the back exit that led to the garage.

Next Morning

"She hasn't been out all night! Hasn't eaten anything since breakfast yesterday morning!" Dean yells while rushing down the halls, Jean and Scott following after him.

"You can't just break in!" Scott yells.

"What if she's doing something!" Jean angrily demands. "I'd hate for you to barge in if I was-"

"Just shut up, please!" Dean interrupts while bending down with his screwdriver in hand. Within seconds, he unlocks the door and opens it to find the room completely empty. Sam's computer lay on the bed, closed, with the chips still all over the floor and the closet in ruins.  "What the fuck happened in here?"

"I gave her a head start," Charles announces. "So, I suggest you all suit up to get ready for the mission before she gets there and gets herself killed."
