"Whoever you are," Scott states with a strained voice. "I wouldn't. You won't like what happens when I open my eyes.
"I'm not asking you." Sam slowly explains. "I have your glasses here and I'll fix them when we get somewhere safe. Can you walk?"
"Yes," Scott mutters, the surprise showing on his face that someone had actually come to rescue them. "Where's Jean?"
"She's over by my partner, Dean," Sam explains while placing his glasses in front of his eyes before getting to work on the chains. "She's not doing as hot as you are."
"She took most of the beatings," Scott mutters as Sam grabs her shield and bangs in the one place where all of his chains are connected. Within seconds, both Scott and Logan's chains retract, causing them to fall to the ground in heaps.
"Shit! I'm so sorry." Sam squeaks while kneeling in between them both, Dean laughs from a few feet away. "Shut up, Dean or you're next!"
"It's okay, I'll help Logan," Scott assures as Sam looks over at the man on her right.
"Alright." Sam finally gives in before walking over the professor who was still hooked to the machine, but his eyes watched her every move warily. "It's uh..it's okay. We're here to help." Sam tries to assure him with a smile. "I swear."
Sam starts hitting buttons on the machine, each shutting down a different part until the whole machine was turned off and Charles could sit up if able. Slowly, Charles blinks his eyes and rolls his head before turning to look at Sam again.
Weakly, the man reaches out his hand and roughly grabs Sam's wrist. Her eyes turn to the back of her head as her body convulses, the last thing she sees being Logan and Jean rushing to her side as if they were never injured in the first place.
Vision
Destruction
Death
That's all that Sam could see around her and after a few minutes, the professor joins her. "I couldn't talk in that state."
"So, you had to bring me here?" Sam questions while still looking out at the destruction.
"This is an old vision that Jean had long before Hydra was one to worry about." Charles shakes his head. "That's the first that came to mind."
"I can imagine," Sam mutters as her mind goes back to picture that room they found the X-men in.
"They're trying to wake you." Charles shakes his head. "Do you wonder how they were able to reach you so fast after what state you found them in?"
"That did cross my mind." Sam shrugs. "But I really wasn't going to question it."
"It's because of you," Charles explains. "I can feel your power, I felt it right when you entered the cave."
"I don't have powers. Hydra's scanned me so many times now, they would've found something." Sam shoots the man down.
"That's because someone was watching out for you." Charles chuckles.
"What do you mean?" Sam demands.
"Well, someone discovered your powers and...locked them away," Charles replies. "So that no one could find them, even with the most powerful scanners around."
"Then how come you could sense them?" Sam questions.
"Because I believe that I had something to do with it." Charles shrugs. "I've only done it once, to a baby girl when her father was about to lose her and I believe that it was you."
"Seriously?" Sam scoffs. "No, nope...nada. No."
"Why is this so hard to believe?"
"Because my life has never-"
"Someone's coming."
Reality
Sam sputters while sitting up, spitting the water out of her mouth. Someone rests their hands on her back to help her but she quickly pushes them away and kneels close to Charles again. Her eyes scanning his, Charles only smiles and turns away causing Sam to purse her lips in anger.
"You have a death wish," Dean announces after a few seconds.
"Someone's coming." Sam interrupts while standing with the shield in her arm. "Get them out of here, I need to blow off some steam."
"Woah, what happened to you?" Dean questions.
"Nothing of your damn concern!" Sam screams. "Go to the fucking van and wait for me, if I am not out in seven minutes exactly drive away."
Without waiting for a reply, Sam turns on her heel and walks out of the room. Her shoulders tense in anger, slowly everyone turns to look at Charles who was attempting to sit up on his own.
"What the fuck did you tell her?" Logan demands.
"The truth."
Seven Minutes Later
Sam jumps into the waiting van and closes the door as Dean presses on the gas to drive away, her breathing labored and clothes torn. Dean just shakes his head as she crawls to one of the computers in the back.
"You're bleeding," Scott comments, earning a glare from Jean.
"Thanks, Captain Obvious," Sam mumbles while typing things rapidly into the computer.
"What're you doing?" Jean questions.
"Finding a base that we can lay low in for a while," Sam replies. "One that's run down or abandoned. Dean, got the coordinates?"
"Yeah, heading there now," Dean confirms.
"Are you guys professionals? Secretly undercover for a while??" Scott questions.
"I'm a journalist," Sam replies.
"And I'm a mechanic," Dean adds.
"What the fuck?"
