                                                                                 CHAPTER 5

When I turned around, there stood Adrian as his dragon. His gray scales glinting in the sunlight. I stood there and took him all in; every sinew and muscle I could see made that much more prominent with the crouching position he was in. He turned his massive head to look me in the eye and I heard him speak-only his lips weren't moving. "I see you like this form, my star. We are thrumming with excitement. Would you like to pet us? We would like it very much," he said. I went toward him with Jayden on my heels. He went up to the beast and started smelling him going around and around until he was satisfied.

I stared at him for a moment longer and then went to pet him. His scales were hard and warm. It was almost like touching a snake that had just finished sun-bathing; only much bigger than your average snake. I was in awe of touching a dragon; something I thought belonged in fairy-tales a short while ago. I began to hear a strange noise, and I realized, with wonder, that he was purring. It sounded strange coming from a fifty foot dragon, but also strangely comforting to me as well.

"Can we go for a ride now? I can pet you anytime, but I want to see the world from your point of view. i want to fly," I said, looking in his emerald eye. I looked closer and could see little specks of a grayish silver color swirling in them. I smiled at him.

He breathed out a sigh and shifted so that I could climb on right in the indention that sat between his shoulder blades. I grabbed a spike in front of me and gradually, he beat the air with his wings. Jayden went crazy, barking and growling at us. Adrian let out a snort of fire and he quieted instantly. I slapped him lightly as a sign not to do that again. My dog was my baby and I didn't want him hurt.

I wondered how no one could see us as I live close to a highway and was answered as we slowly started to disappear. I looked at my arm slightly awed as it vanished. I poked myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming as I turned invisible.

I was soon watching as we got higher and higher in the air. He flew us up until we were at least a hundred feet in the air. I watched as everything got smaller and smaller and he took off flying slowly so as to help me get used to the speed and height. I loved it. Everything looked beautiful and peaceful and the air was cool on my face as we flew. His mighty wings flapping were the only other sounds to be heard. There was no chirping or car sounds at all. It was just very peaceful. You could see the full moon beginning to rise and soon I felt my eyes getting heavier and heavier and sleep took over.
