Surprise!!!

                  CHAPTER 16

    I looked at her, down to my stomach, back to her and then fainted. I faintly heard a gasp and felt Adrian's arms catch me before I hit the floor. When I woke up, I heard beeping. I looked around and saw I was in the hospital laying on a bed with a monitor hooked up to me. I saw Adrian laying on the bed beside me asleep, along with grams and Wyatt in chairs. I looked down frowning. Why was I here? Then I remembered. I was pregnant. I placed my hand over my lower abdomen and smiled. I felt something over my hand, drawing me out of my thoughts.

    I looked down and saw Adrian's hand over mine. I looked over at him and saw the love and pride shining in his eyes. He pulled me closer to him and smiled down at me, lightly kissing my lips. I grinned back and snuggled closer to him. I heard grams and Wyatt start to stir. They were finally waking up. My brother looked happy and shocked, but grams only looked happy; she wasn't in the least shocked about our news.

    "Oh sweety, you're awake. I'll get the doctor. Do you feel okay? Do you need anything? Are you hungry?" she asked.

    I looked at her and said,"I feel fine, just tired and a little shocked. I'm famished, but that's about it. How long have I been here?"

    "Just a couple of hours. The doctor drew some blood and confirmed that you were pregnant. I'll go get him and go get you some real food. What would you like?" she asked.

    "Chinese," I replied immediately," With pepper steak, mushrooms, two egg roles, bacon-wrapped crab, shrimp, and noodles...oh oh and some sushi too. Oh and cheese sticks. A large Dr Pepper and Root Beer to." They chuckled at my strange combination of foods and grams and Wyatt left after calling the doctor in. He walked in and checked me over again, asking questions like do i feel any pain in my abdominal area or do I feel nausea or sickness. He also asked who the father of my baby was.

    I looked over at Adrian and he said,"I am sir." The doctor looked at him a moment, nodded his head and started talking," Okay, so you are eighteen and very healthy. You need to come back for monthly checkups and ultra sounds to check on the progress of the baby and how healthy it is. Will your boyfriend, here, be cominng to all of your appointments?"

    I looked at Adrian again and he answered,"I am her fiance, sir. We are waiting for her to graduate high school before we get married. I will be coming to all appointments and ultra-sounds. I want to be here for it all." I looked up at him and smiled then kissed him lightly. We turned to the awe-struck doctor and he smiled the first genuine smile at us.

    "Well, alright then. I am very happy you will be here for this yound lady. Many boyfriends and even fiances walk out on their significant other. They don't want to be hampered down with a child and moody over-protective mother. My own daughter went throughout her whole pregnancy alone. All she had was her mother and I. The father missed all appointments, but the most important thing was he missed out on his twin children being born. She hasn't seen or heard from the father since she told him she was pregnant with his child, well children. That was over a year ago now. I am very blessed to have them in my life and wouldn't trade anything for them though," he said looking sad and then happy again.

    "Em, here, is very protective now. She will be even more so in the near future. It is fine with me too, as I am about as protective of those I love as she is. You might have even seen her handy-work today. A girl probably came in today with a hurt jaw and huge headache. She hand-cuffed me to a desk. I called Em and she went crazy after the girl hit her stomach; like I said over-protective," Adrian commented.

    The doctor looked shocked, then his expression turned to one of intense amusement. "Well, I do believe I know who you are talking about. She was very upset when she came in and I told her her jaw was broke and she was missing some teeth in the back of her mouth. He parents came and got her alittle while ago. She was very rude to my staff and I. She hand-cuffed you to a desk? Why?" he asked, looking between Adrian and I.

    "She thought I would give in to her after she got started trying to sexually assualt me. After I found my Em though, I haven't even looked at another woman," he told the doctor. Little did he know that Adrian had waited eighteen years for me.

    The doctor smiled at us and I looked up at the doctor and said,"I'm sorry for your daughter. The man didn't deserve her or her babies. She is better off without him and so are those children. I am very happy to have my Adrian here with me, but if he screwed up majorly like that, I'd kick his ass to the curb, no ifs ands or buts about it and he knows it. He is an amazing man and will be a wonderful father." I smiled at him and looked over at Adrian. He was grinning at me and leaned down. He wrapped his arms around me and nuzzled his face into my hair. The doctor left with another smile and I snuggled back up to Adrian.

    The smell of food is what woke me up. I sat up quickly and looked for my food. I was sooooo hungry, I could eat a zebra. I saw my grandma come through the door with five huge takeout trays and a bag while Wyatt came in with the drinks. Grams set the bags down and grabbed my food first and handed it to me. I immediately dug in, while she handed Adrian his food.

    They sat down and started eating it. I ate all of my food plus some of Grams and the hospital's beef storganoff that they brought me for dinner. One of the only reasons I even like hospitals is because most of the food they serve is really good. Many people complain; not me. I like it.

    When I was done, the doctor, whose name I learned was Antonio, came back in. He told me that I was allowed to leave. I got up, put my clothes on, and we left. When we walked through the door, I looked at the clock. It read three a.m.

    I yawned and Adrian scooped me up and carried me to bed. I changed into my pjs and layed down. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light, my and Adrian's fingers entertwined over my belly in a protective gesture. My last thought before sleep claimed me, I can't wait to hold our child in my arms.
