[Phil POV]

I look down at the poor boy's pained face, wincing with every step, fingers digging into my ribcage. His curly hair covering his face as I rub his back, making our way to the canteen for patients. Ebony asked me to take him to the canteen rather than have nurses bringing food to us, so Dan can heal correctly. There's nothing worse than having your body heal wrong because all you do is lie down. *IF YA'LL ARE DOCTORS DONT ATTACK ME THIS IS FICTION IDK IF THAT'S TRUE OR NOT*

When we reach a table, I allow Dan to sit down, asking for his order.

"Just a chocolate milkshake and a ham and cheese toasted sandwich I guess," Dan mumbles, resting his head in his left hand on the table as I scrunch up my nose. "W-what?" He squeezes his eyes shut, almost as if waiting to be yelled at.

"Oh nothing, just the fact people can eat cheese." He lifts his head from his hand, looking at me like I said the dumbest thing ever.

"You... You don't like cheese?"

"Not even the tiniest bit. It's always disgusted me. Even the smell." Dan knits his eyebrows together, looking around the room, seeming confused and dumbfounded.

"What kind of sick twisted human are you? Who doesn't like cheese!?"

"Me?"

"Okay, I don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't like- Hang on! Does that mean you don't like pizza? 'Cause that's a sad life right there."

"I can eat it on pizza, just nothing else."

"You odd, odd human." His beautiful mocha eyes meet my oceanic ones as he laughs a small chuckle, causing a grin to appear on my face.

"I'll be right back." I quickly run to order what we want.

After ordering, I step back, waiting for the food to be prepared. I feel a body collapse onto mine, realising it was Dan, who had attempted walking on his own.

"Dan? What are you doing? Isn't that really unsafe for you to do?"

"You really can't hear, can you honey?" He says, indicating to the dining area, burying his face into my shoulder in embarassment. My eyes significantly widen when I see a trail of fallen chairs, easily seeing where Dan attempted to walk. I chuckle, wrapping my arms around his small waist.

"Don't hide, it's fine." I laugh.

"I'm hiding for two reasons. I'm self c-concious and I-I'm about to have a l-laughing f-fit I swear to g-god." I hear his laugh cresendo into a loud, unstoppable, hyena laugh, causing me to laugh with him. "Y-you know, this hurts a lot, but I can't stop," He mumbles through his laughter.

When our order is ready, the man behind the counter helps take the tray over as I help Dan walk back to the table, both still laughing, both our stomachs' aching. When he sits down, I sit at the opposite side of his position. I grab his hand ontop of the table, linking our fingers together.

"See this, Dan?" He looks up at me, confused. "The way you acted just then? Happy and so carefree?" He nods his head slowly. A small smile appears as my lips turn up slightly.

"That's the Dan I want to be able to see everyday."
