THERE ARE SO MANY MISTAKES AT THE START OF THIS BOOK OH MY I'M SO SORRY

[Phil POV]

I hold Dan in my arms, stroking his chocolate hair as he cries into my arms.

"I don't want to g-go Phil." He wails. Tears flow out of my eyes as I rest my chin on his head attached to his shaking body.

"I don't want you to either." I close my eyes, trying to stop myself from crying unsuccessfully.

"They're coming at eleven Phil. It's nine!" I pull him closer, loud sobs escaping Dan's lips. I feel an extra weight on the top of us, a pair of arms wrapping around the both of us.

"I'm so sorry, boys."

"I-it's not your fault K-Katherine." I hear Dan choke out, trying to stabilise himself.

"Pancakes anyone?" I feel Mum get off us, sitting at the end of my bed. Dan's head moves underneath my chin, nodding.

"Uh, yeah I suppose." I say as Mum leaves the room. "Wanna go make some, Dan?"

"Yeah." Dan looks up, sad cinnamon eyes staring into mine. "Sounds like fun."

--

"Fuck - Phil!" I giggle, rubbing more pancake mix onto Dan's face. He picks up the pan off the hotplate, attempting to flip the pancake.

"If this pancake flops," Dan says as it lands in the pan successfully. "I blame you, lucky."

After a few minutes Dan takes the pancake off, putting it on his plate, eating his third pancake this morning.

"Hungry, Dan?" I hear my mum walk in, noticing how much he was eating, chuckling to herself.

"This is my last one, I promise." Dan says with a smile.

"I don't care how much you eat, as long as you're well fed." Mum smiles, scruffing up Dan's hair. He chuckles. She pokes the pancake mix on his face. "Phil?"

"Mhm." He hums in approval. She laughs, walking over to me.

"I'm off to work."

"I thought you had this week off since it's like, the holidays?" My eyebrows furrow in confusion, lips puckering slightly.

"Well, I've been called in for an interview about... Something. Don't bother, not even I know." She walks back over to Dan.

"Dan, good luck in Manchester. Promise you'll come see us?"

"Thanks, and definitely." Dan looks down sadly, smiling despite how he really feels. He's been getting better at that lately...

Mum walks out the door swings close as she waves us goodbye. I continue cleaning up the kitchen as Dan eats his pancake. Before I know it, he is bringing up his plate, placing it in the sink.

"I'm going for a shower, Phil. 'Cause you know..." Dan points at all the mix over his face and arms.

"Okay, go ahead." I place a kiss on his temple as he races upstairs.

I sit on the couch, opening my phone. I see the photo of Dan in the coffee shop from last week set as my wallpaper. I smile at it for a while before opening up Tumblr.

I feel a weight on my shoulder, water soaking through my blue sweater. I notice Dan is in an oversized, light grey sweater and black skinny jeans. Covering his feet are a pair of pink and grey stripy socks. I realise that he hasn't straightened his hair yet.
