Chapter Twenty 'Two Can Play At That Game'

Ember's POV
Beautiful skin?
Nope
Perfect hair?
Nope
Amazing figure?
Defiantly not!
Scars?
Yes!
Ugly?
Yes!
Deformed?
YES!

Tears streamed down my puffy cheeks as I looked into the bathroom mirror.
The memories of last night were plaguing my mind like a disease. The girl that had caught Mr J's eye she was beautiful, perfect actually in comparison to me. I had dark hair, she had light. I had chalk skin, she had soft ivy skin with pink heathy cheeks. I had dark eyes, she had blue eyes as clear as Diamonds. I had scars from years of abuse, she was flawless. My body had been forever change from having peanut, hers was slim and just perfect.
She was everything I wasn't and now she had the attention of the man I loved.

How could a stranger make me feel so insecure. I bet she was as sweet as she looked but I couldn't help the instant dislike I had for her. Maybe I was just overthinking things again and everything would be alright. My heart hurt thought, I could feel it. Something was telling me that this wouldn't be the end and there was more to come. As long as I had peanut I knew I could get over anything even Mr J.
I needed to be strong!
I couldn't let him see me upset it would only cause a fight.

Wiping away my tears I took a deep breath and straightened my dress.

"You can do this! You're not a teenager anymore Ember, you're a mother and you've got to pull yourself together!" I whispered giving myself one of my famous pep talks.
Glancing in the mirror one last time I put a smile on my face and headed towards the exit so I could face Mr J at the breakfast table.

"MAMMYYYYYY!" Diamond screeched, clapping her hands as I walked into the dining room.

Hearing her excited screeches Mr J looked up from his plate straight at me.

"Good morning little doll!" He grinned giving me a wink.
"Good morning daddy!" I smiled back swallowing the lump in my throat.
Turning my attention away from him I looked at my excited baby.
"Good morning my little peanut, you look you beautiful!" I cooed rushing over to her.

Wrapping my arms around her I repeatedly kissed all over her face, laughing as she giggled and snuggled into my arms.
"And where'ssss my morning kiss little doll?" I heard Mr J call out.
Pulling away from Peanut I patted her cheek before walking around to Mr J's chair. Bending down I softly placed my lips on his, giving him a gentle kiss but as I went to pull away he deepened it and raised his hand to kiss my cheek.

Finally pulling back I sat down on my chair opposite Peanut and began to stuff my face per usual.
A few minutes passed and everything was going nicely when Frosty walked in.
"Fwostyyyyy!" Diamond cheered with a large smile that came from her father.
"Hey there kiddo! Are you ready to go boss?" He greeted before turning his attention to Mr J.
"Ah yes let me go get my gun Frosty boy!" J grinned jumping up from his chair excitedly.
"Where are you going?" I enquired, tilting my head to look at him.
"Business little doll! I'll be home tonight, be good!" He replied shortly coming to kiss me quick.
After kissing Diamond he hurried out the room leaving just Frosty with us.

"Erm kid there's something you should know" he whispered awkwardly scratching his head as he approached me.
"Yes Frosty what's up?" I chirped frowning slightly, noticing the sudden tension within the room.
Taking the seat next to me he leaned towards me until our heads were almost touching.
"The girl from the club" he gulped making my heart freeze in place, the lump in my throat returning.
"What about her?" I whimpered slightly squeezing my eyes shut for a few seconds.
"The boss he's....he's asked me to find information on her" Frosty sighed regrettably.
"Oh" was all I managed to get out as my heart cracked and my mind went wild.
I knew the stares at the club wouldn't be the end.
How could he does this to me?! To our baby?!
Weren't we enough?
Tears brimmed my eyes and threatened to fall but looking over to where Peanut was eating happily I put them to one side and kept my face stoic.

"Kid?" Frosty called out grabbing my hand.
"Do me a favour Frosty please" I whispered.
"What is it?" He questioned.
"Whatever information you find out about her, tell me I need to know" I bit out in a desperate tone.
"I'm sorry kid but no" he sighed again.
"What!" I exclaimed bewildered by his statement.
"The boss wouldn't like it and as much as I care for you as my sister I won't betray his trust" he explained.
Was he fucking serious!
"Ok whatever bye Jonathon!" I sneered ripping my hand away from him.
"Don't be like that Ember!" He begged.
"FROSTYYYY!" Mr J voice echoed across the walls.
"You better go your boss calls!" I spat looking away from him.
Patting my leg he stood up and proceeded to leave the room.

Why did it feel like everyone was against me?
Surely I was entitled to the information too!
If Mr J liked her then surely this meant the break up of my family. I didn't want to think of it right now but if he cheated that would be it for us, I would take my daughter and leave!
So he thinks he can keep secrets and hide things from me, well two could play at that game!
Feeling my anger starting to bubble I picked up my phone and called the person who could help even out this 'game'.

"Hello!" The voice chirped out.
"Hey! Listen could you do me a big favour?" I pleaded.
"Sure!"
"Great! Meet me at the local park in an hour, remember to wear a disguise!" And with that I hung up the phone.

"Hey Peanut do you want to go to the park?" I cooed making her head snap up at me.
"Yayyyyyyyyyy! Ark! Ark!" She cheered clapping her hands.
