Two week later
"I'm coming for you!"
"Please.....not again! Don't do this......I'm begging you!"
"I'm coming for you my roseeeee"
"No you're not real! This is just a dream! You're not here! You're not real!"
"Oh I am real my rose, I am very real and I'm coming......"

"NO PLEASE! please.....no"
Hearing Ember's cries, Peter hurried into the room, his mood dropping dramatically at the thought of her being in trouble when she was the most vulnerable she had ever been.
Looking upon the bed he watched as she thrashed violently, tears streaming down her cheeks as she cried out for help. Sighing, Peter placed her breakfast tray to the side and began to approach the distraught woman.
She was having another nightmare.
They had started of subtle but as time passed they became stronger and more frequent to the point she had started to do anything she could to remain awake. Ember's recovery overall was going well yet it was obvious there was more damage in her head that needed to be worked on, than the damage to her spine.

"Ember, wake up darling, wake up" Peter cooed to her softly as he reached down and gently grabbed her shoulders.
The frown that had decorated her face was beginning to soften and her loud cries were now quiet whimpers. Ember trembled under his touch but the more he held her, the calmer she became. Peter knew how to help her, he had watched Joker closely over the last week. The Joker had stepped up and did everything he could to help her especially when the nightmares came.

"Come on Ember, time to wake up! That's it, good girl" Peter continued to coo watching her eyes flicker open and her grip on the bedsheets loosen.
"It happened again" Ember whispered turning on her back to look up at him.
"I know my dear" was all Peter could reply.
Despite being a doctor there was only so much he could do to help her mental health. Peter knew patients who still suffered from nightmares twenty years after their incidents had occurred. Everyone was different so no recovery was ever the same.

"His face, it haunts me Peter. Every time I close my eyes he gets closer and closer, I'm afraid one of these days he will finally manage to reach me and I can not bear to feel his touch again" Ember explained trying her best to erase Alexander's smirk from her mind.
"It will take time for you to recover from this trauma Ember but I promise we will do all we can to help and guide you" Peter smiled rubbing her shoulders before standing once more and heading towards her breakfast.
"Thank you Peter, your help is truly a blessing" Ember smiled back, feeling her stomach growl as the scent of freshly made pancakes began to seep into her senses.

"There we go, eat up!" Peter ordered jokingly, placing the tray in her lap.
Not waiting around, Ember quickly dug into her meal like a starved animal, grunting and moaning as the sweetness caused her tastebuds to explode.
Hearing a knock on the door, Ember looked up with a mouth full of food to see one of Joker's goons stood there, his face passive and void of emotion.
"How can I help you?" Peter questioned moving to stand in front of the man.
"The boss wants to see you about Ember's thing" the man grumbled quietly but being the expert nosy person she was a Ember heard everything.

"Excuse me, if there is something going on that includes me I'd like to know" Ember frowned dropping her fork and looking between the two men.
"Let's go" Peter nodded ignoring her completely and heading out the door.
"Don't just walk away! You and J better tell what the hell is going on!" Ember demanded folding her arms and huffing loudly.
"Absolute dicks!" She grumbled under her breath before continuing to stuff her face.

It didn't take long for Ember to once again be joined by a certain green haired man. Peaking around the door with a huge grin on her face, Ember couldn't help but feel highly suspicious.
"Good morning J" she spoke politely giving him a small smile.
"Gooooooood morning little doll, how are you on this fine day?" He sang cheerfully making her gut twist nervously, something was defiantly up with him.
"What is it J?" Ember sighed trying to keep her laugh at bay, he looked lost and unsure.
"I've got you a present little doll!" Joker announced with the same large grin he had walked in with.
"Oh! May I see it?" Ember questioned now wondering why he was acting so strange, it was only a gift after all.

Taking a deep breath J nodded and rushed out the room, making loud noises as he attempted to move the gift.
What he returned with made Ember's heart drop.
It was a wheelchair, for her.....for her legs.......that no longer worked.....

Until now Ember had pushed her injuries to the back of her mind, attempting to make them disappear but yet here they were, mocking her

Until now Ember had pushed her injuries to the back of her mind, attempting to make them disappear but yet here they were, mocking her. Her spine was damaged and even with her upcoming operation there was no guarantee that her legs would work again and seeing this wheelchair was an unwelcome punch to the face.

As J pushed the chair further into the room, Ember began to tear up and closing her eyes she prayed it would be gone by the time she opened them. An overwhelming sense of guilt washed over her, she couldn't help but feel angry at J. She knew with all her heart that he was only trying to help but no matter how much she told herself that her anger still continued to take over.

"What do you think little doll?" Joker whispered gently and forcing herself to open her eyes, Ember gasped in horror.
He had placed that thing right beside her, if she reached out she could touch it.
"Get it away from me!" Ember whimpered turning away from it and letting out a strangled sob.
"What?" Joker questioned in confusion looking upon her heartbroken face.

"GET IT AWAY FROM ME! I DON'T WANT IT! I DON'T WANT IT!" Ember suddenly screamed and with all the strength she could muster she pushed against the wheelchair, sending it crashing to the floor.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE BITCH!" Joker yelled feeling his patience come to an end.
Launching himself at her, he quickly raised his fist ready to release his rage when Ember let out a yelp and wrapped her arms around her head, rocking as she braced herself for impact.

Letting out a roar, Joker diverted his fist and instead threw it into the wall above her head.
"You don't want the chair, FINE! You don't want to get up, FINE! This pity train ends now Ember! You are NOT a child and I will NOT continue to baby you! If you want to stay here and wallow in self pity, then go ahead but don't expect people to help you IF YOU WON'T HELP YOURSELF!" And with that he stormed from the room, kicking the wheelchair as he passed it leaving Ember in a flood of tears.

"Well jeez people! I'm gone for a few weeks and hell breaks loose!"
A voice called out full of sarcasm and with a new big smile Ember shot her head up and laughed.
"Harley! You're here!" Ember exclaimed, more tears falling but this time they were full of happiness and delight at the sight of her friend.
"Of course I am, I missed ya!" Harley cheered skipping into the room, stopping to gently lift the wheelchair back up before checking it over "nice ride!"
"It's awful" Ember whimpered crossing her arms and pouting.
"And tell me what's so awful about something that's been made to help you? You want to get out that bed on your own don't you or would you prefer to continue being carried around like a child?" Harley questioned, eyebrow raised and stance demanding.
"It's not that simple Harley!" Ember protested, feeling suddenly like a misbehaved child.
"It's very simple Em, you either want it or you don't?" Harley argued coming to sit on Ember's bed.

Noticing Ember was now completely ignoring her, Harley reached over and gripped Ember's chin.
"I think it's time you and I had a long conversation about this pity party"
