Ember's POV
It felt like time had stopped as I watched Peter examine my Peanut. I sat there and held her cold, sweaty hand, my eyes stinging from the endless amount of tears I had shed.
Why her?
Why my little baby?
Never had I felt more hopeless as a mother. My child was almost lifeless and there was nothing I could do but wait for the doctor to confirm her illness. When she went limp in my arms I thought I would die from the ultimate heartbreak.
What would I do without the love of my life?
How could I face everyday knowing my sweet angel was gone?
The only bit of hope I had in this moment was the sight of her little chest rising up and down signalling that her heart was still beating."Peter please tell me something! I'm going out my mind!" I croaked out as I began to sob once more.
"It appears that Diamond is suffering from Gastroenteritis" he announced lifting his head to stare at me.
"What the hell is that?" I demanded as my heart began pounding violently.
"Gastroenteritis is also known as Diarrhoea and vomiting. A flu that we have all suffered from multiple times in our lives" Peter exclaimed making me let out a relieved sigh but my worry was still there.
"But she collapsed in my arms! Why?" I whimpered."Children are a lot weaker than adults especially babies and toddlers. Diamond passed out from exhaustion and its best we let her continue to sleep. It is important that you keep her hydrated and a cool wet cloth on her head. I have also prescribed some paracetamol. She will most likely make a full recovery within the next few days"
"Ok thank you so much peter! God I've never felt so scared in my life" I sniffles giving him a sad smile as I walked towards the bedroom door with him.
"It is understandable but do not worry she will be fine. If you need me do not hesitate to call again, I'll be here as soon as I can" he smiled placing a gentle hand on my shoulder.
"Thank you once again! Goodbye Peter" I whispered giving him a small wave.
"Goodbye Ember" and with that he was gone.Letting out a tired sigh I quickly hurried back over to the side of Mr J's bed where my baby was resting. I didn't care that I was still wearing vomit soaked clothes, I wasn't moving until I saw her beautiful blue eyes once more.
Two hours passed before I heard the most perfect sound ever to exist.
"Mammy" Diamond whimpered looking up at me, her eyes full of unshed tears.
"Oh my baby! You're awake! Mammy was so worried, I love you so much Peanut!" I exclaimed leaning down and kissing all over her face.
"Wuv you mammy"
She sounded so weak but just hearing her speak was enough for me.
"Rest my sweet baby, you'll be better in no time" I smiled stroking her flushed cheek.
"Mammy peanut eeed daddy" she suddenly sobbed.
"Daddy will be home soon princess I promise" I cooed wiping her tears.
"M..a.mmy...pwe..lse" Diamond continued to sob uncontrollably.
"Sssshhh my love I'll get daddy" I reassured her feeling myself give in."Mary!" I called out.
"Yes?" She wheezed running into the bedroom.
"Stay with Diamond I'm going to get Mr J" I rushed out, kissing Diamond one last time before sprinting to my room.
Peeling of the vomit dress I hurried into some new clothes.
