By lunchtime I was almost jumping out of my chair. I wanted to see Elliott and Jake, I needed their advice on Owen. I walk as fast as I can, which isn’t very fast, to the lunch table and find them there.
"Hey, no-show," Elliott greeted, smiling at me.
"I need advice," I said, not bothering with the hellos.
"Okay, about what?" Jake asks.
"Owen wants to move in together and he asked my dads permission to ask for my hand in marriage," I told them. They both drop their forks.
"What?" Jake asked, his eyes widening.
"Owen wants to move in together and he asked my dad if he could marry me." I say.
"Aren't you a little... Young?" Jake frowned and looked at Elliott.
I sit down. "I'm a little young to be having a baby too."
Elliott nodded. "True..."
"Great advice, guys," I said, rolling my eyes. "He doesn’t know that I heard about the marriage part, I already knew about the living together."
"Do you know whether your dad said yes to it?" Jake asked, picking up his fork again.
"I dont know, I ran out of the house."
Elliott frowned. "Why didn't you stay?"
"I bumped into something and I didn’t want them to know I was listening."
"Want me to just talk to him? See if he says anything to me?" Jake asked, leaning across the table.
I nod. "Yeah, thanks Jake."
"Hey, guys." Owen appeared, a smile on his face.
"Hi." I say.
He nodded to the two boys before pulling me into a hug. "Missed you," he murmured against my ear.
"I missed you too." I whisper.
He planted a kiss on my forehead and sat back. "How was your day?" He asked all of us.
"It was fine." I say.
"What's going on?" He asked as me, Elliott and Jake exchanged a glance. "I feel like I'm being left out of something."
"Nothing."
"Okay..." He frowned and looked between us.
"What?" I ask getting out my yogurt.
"I'm going to quickly go outside," he said, standing up, fishing his phone out of his pocket. I open my yogurt and grab my spoon, starting to eat it.
"Ooh," Jake grinned. "Reckon he's arranging for your engagement ring?" I choked on my yoghurt as I snapped my head to Jake.
I hit the back of his head. "That's not funny!"
He snorted and looked over at the window. "Wonder who he's talking to."
I take a bite. "Does it really matter?"
Elliott smiled at Jake. "You are too nosey."
"No I'm not!" Jake protested, folding his arms over his chest.
"Yes you are." I agree.
With a huff he stood up. "Fine. I'll take my nosiness somewhere else."
"Jake-"
"He needs to go to the library," Elliott told me, rolling his eyes.
"Is there something going on with him?" I ask El.
