I am sorry. And back. But mostly sorry.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The room was as quiet as it could be as the Swifts and Karlie sat at Taylor's large kitchen table, consuming the meal Mama Swift had decided to cook. The Swifts sat at the larger sides, Austin next to Taylor, Andrea next to Scott and Karlie sat at the shorter side, not having a neighbor nor an opposite. Not that she cared, if it was for her choice she would be alone in a room now, eventually sitting on the balcony smoking another cigarette while mustering the outside world. She would quietly observe the people on the streets below her and look at the many cars passing by. Enjoying the peace of being alone.

But it wasn't her choice.

"The curry is very good.", Karlie broke the silence, that had built over the past minutes, to compliment the meal, even though she was more than positive that it wasn't vegetarian. A smile that she tried to seem less forced than it was, filled her face and one of her brown strains of hair fell into her face, which she brushed back with a quick motion.

"Thank you.", the mother replied, with a cold undertone in her voice, that sent a shiver down Taylor's spine. She was returning Karlies smile but didn't seem to put the littlest effort into trying to not make it seem forced. It didn't meet her eyes, they remained ice cold. This wasn't a good sign, Taylor thought to herself and glanced over at Karlie to observe her reactions, but the model was playing a perfect poker face.

Even though Karlie didn't show it she had noticed the same and decided that it was for the best if she quietly continued eating the meal in front of her in an attempt to not make the situation more uncomfortable than it already was.

The next person to speak up happened to be Austin, who as well noticed the cold atmosphere at the dining table and tried on lighting up the mood with a conversation. An attempt which Karlie had just failed at.

"So do you have siblings?", he asked the brunette model. A question for that Taylor would only love to smash her hand against her forehead and her brothers head on the table. He wasn't aware of it, but he just asked the probably worst thing possible. Taylor knew that Karlie would love to avoid the question, and the only thing keeping Karlie here, was probably Taylor herself. She tried to give the model an encouraging smile, which she didn't really seem to notice.

Karlie started blinking unusually fast. "I...uhm...have three sisters.", was the reply she gave him, with her eyes looking down. Her hands tightened so much that Taylor could see the knuckles turning white.

The singer hoped for her brother to end the situation know, it would be the best for all of them, but her sibling decided to continue putting salt into the wound, without a realizing hint of what he was doing, by asking for the names. Taylor had a hard time suppressing a sigh.

But obviously Karlie replied, even though Taylor was sure that her actions only had the purpose to appear nice. "Kristine, Kariann and Kimby.", the brunette spoke so quietly that everyone had a hard time understanding the model, who began stirring her curry uncomfortably.

"All starting with a K!", Scott exclaimed with a nice-meant tone in her voice. It was obvious that he now also sensed the tension that filled the kitchen and tried to lighten it up a little. Which he didn't notice was that they were still addressing the wrong topic.

"Yeah.", Karlie said with a forced smile on her face, that only seemed sad. Taylor wished, she could give her girlfriend, it still felt awkward to say that but she started to love the word, a hug, since it seemed like it was the one thing she needed right now.

"So Austin how's College?", the singer quickly changed the topic, by addressing her little brother hoping that it would distract her family from interviewing Karlie about her, a little problematic, family situation.
