As the elevator pushed up the last few feet, Zack pulled his fist back, ready to punch the rubble in the way. You saw the others take cover for themselves before burying you face in Ven's chest. Axel glowing within his embers, Reno beside him covered in his own shield that was as teal as his eyes- only lighter, Demyx in his own little bubble of water, engulfing Terra and Zack as well, and Ven tensing up at the sight of light, his body becoming hard as rock. Zack growled, jumping up in the process, breaking through the rubble that once covered the way out. Pieces of rock flew everywhere and you saw that the walls of the room were what had been in the elevator's way.
Once the elevator came to a sure stop, Axel molded the small gap between it and the floor, sealing it so nothing could come out. Ven released you and Terra grabbed your hand, pulling you as everyone began dashing for the exit. Once reaching the staircase, you smelled freedom, but an explosion from behind sent a gust of wind towards your way. You and the boys were thrown off, less than halfway down the stairs, in different directions. Your grasp from Terra's hand was broken and you found yourself smacked to the floor beside Demyx. A few of your wounds opened up again, thankfully, they weren't the big ones, and you were still able to move around. The guys staggered to their feet from the impact, and slowly, three figures descended down the stairs.
One was a teen, no older than 17, and he was unconscious, his body being held by two spirits who both seemed to be monks of the temple. They were radiating a sparkle, and from the description Tifa talked about earlier, the sparkles were pyre flies. The boy's hair was long, and dark blue that draped over his shoulders, and where there was a gap between his eyes, he was trickling blood.
"Crap, these are unsent!," Axel yelled, twirling his fingers. In a flash of light, two chakrams appeared in each of his hands.
Demyx, who was thrown to the door beside you, summoned his sitar," I- It's locked! We have to fight." The others nodded- Terra and Ven summoning the keyblade, Zack a buster sword, and Reno, a long baton that sparked every few seconds.
"Cover [Name]!," Ven yelled as the boy began to glow with a red aura. The unsents jumped into him and he began to radiate the pyre flies himself. It was as if they had merged into his body and taken over.
Fiends appeared from the ground, and began attacking. At every move you dodged, one of the boys would slash through the fiend, who vanished into a burst of pyre flies. It then hit you that you knew how to fight- why you were letting them protect you made you feel stupid. You clenched your fists and ran head on against a deformed bird who was about to attack an unsuspecting Reno. You jumped, spun, and kicked the fiend with so much force, you heard a SWOOSH from your foot before it collided with the bird, sending it into a mass of pyre flies. You landed on your hands, spinning your legs in the air in a circular motion, kicking away a few fiends around you. Reno turned and gave you a smile of thanks, when a ragged dog pounced at him. You, without thinking, threw yourself in front of Reno, getting pounced on instead. You landed on your back, the dog about to claw at you, when a sword was jabbed into it, sending it away. Zack's hand appeared in front of you, pulling you up. "Looks like we got another Tifa!" he smirked, steadying you.
A howl stopped everything. It came from the teen that was now on his knees, clutching at his head in pain. His eyes snapped open to reveal they were a beautiful shade of topaz. He stood, his face consumed in bloodlust as he quivered, and a light appeared in his hands, summoning his weapon. He gave another howl, as nothing but the dogs appeared from the shadows.
"What the heck is that thing?," Ven growled, his eyes fixed on the boy's weapon.
"It's a claymore, I think," Terra called back.
"I- I knew I recognized him," Demyx muttered under his breath, making sure nobody heard- but you did.
The boy jumped down from the stairs and immediately swung at Ven, who countered back. You flipped back, kicking the fiends in front of you, and punching a few who tried to advance on Ven and now Terra, who were preoccupied with the boy. You saw a lighting fixture on the celling that was barely holding up. If you could get up there, it'd give you an advantage against the fiends. You ran up against the wall and kicked off, propelling yourself as high as you could before falling short and dropping back down. You flipped several times, before landing on your hands and feet. Axel noticed you and gave you a nod, knowing what you were trying to do. He signaled Zack, Demyx and Reno, who nodded back. Demyx would hold off the fiends, who were quickly multiplying, as they tried to get you to the fixture. Things were set and with the boy distracted, you had enough room to execute the plan.
