Slowly, your eyes fluttered open. Today was a new day, a new start- a Saturday full of relaxation. However, your hopes died just as they came when the events from last night rushed back into your mind. With a sigh, you rolled onto your back and stared at the white silk of your canopy, just thinking. The small clock on your nightstand beeped softly three times and you sat up to look at the time- 10:00PM.
“I just took a nap,” you shook your head, scooting yourself out of bed.
Quietly, you exited from your room to find the house incredibly noisy. In the living room, some of the boys were playing PS3, and another handful of them waiting their turn. In the downstairs hall, you heard music blaring from the dance room, and in the family room, there was yelling along with the loud sound of Dance Dance Revolution and the few other video games. The adults were discussing something in the meeting room, a few other people testing their skills in the simulator/training room. Finally, the theater had a movie playing, and even the library had some people in it as well.
Since the kitchen was empty, with the lights off, you slunk into it and sat on one of the stools at the island, laying your head on the granite countertop. The presence of someone coming into the room only made you sigh and you braced yourself for an angry conversation. The person sat beside you on another stool and gently made you sit upright- your [color] eyes meeting bright blue ones.
“[Name]-ah,” Fai frowned,” I highly disapprove of you sulking around.”
“I’d rather not bother anyone,” you mumbled, playing with your fingers. “They just need some time right?” you looked back up at him,” So I’m giving it to them.”
“That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to talk to them,” he sighed. “Besides, the girls trust you- most of them anyways. With the boys, all it takes is a little reassurance from you—”
“The killer?” you crossed your arms. “How come you and Kurogane aren’t being avoided?”
“[Name],” Fai chuckled,” We’re authoritative figures. Majority of these boys like you- maybe even love you- I dunno. Don’t you think it’s a shocker that the girl who entered their lives 2 months ago has such a broken past?”
“Everyone has a past—”
“But not like yours,” he smiled slightly. “It may be ‘horrid’,’ he air quoted. “However, it’s what makes you- you. Despite all the bad stuff [Name], you have nothing to be ashamed of. Overcoming all of that crap is an accomplishment.”
“Reassuring the hero?” Kurogane chuckled, entering the kitchen and flipping on the lights.
“I’m no hero,” you rolled your eyes.
He ruffled your hair,” Of course you’d deny it. Fai, c’mon it’s not break time yet. [Name], you need to do what you can and help those prisoners,” Kurogane turned to you.
“What do you suggest on doing?” Fai also turned to you.
“W-What? Me?” your eyes widened. “You guys, I’m just a kid!”
“But, you’re the reason why they didn’t fight,” Fai pointed out. “You can’t just expect them to switch sides and fight with us.”
“That’s right,” Kurogane nodded. “I think you should send them home.”
“I think I will,” you nodded and jumped off the stool. “Are they still in the basement?”
“Hai,” Kurogane nodded, leaving with Fai.
