Houseband- Part 2

Year 2024, Faulkerson Home:

R and the kids stood by door and waved until the van was out of sight. Seeing the kids' long faces, R was quick to cheer them up.

"So who wants breakfast?" He beamed. "Ice cream for everyone who finishes their meal."

"Meeeee!!!" The kids cheered and they all hop to the kitchen.

Fifteen minutes later, R was flipping a pancake and placing it on Thirdy's plate.

"Let's see. Vanilla and chocolate swirl pancake with chocolate syrup, no butter for Kuya Thirdy. Mama said that's your favorite breakfast. I hope I got that right." R said.

"You did. Thank you, Papa. Only you forgot the white chocolate chips on top." Thirdy smiled.

R checked the list M left and scratched his head. "Sorry. I missed that one, buddy. Here you go." He grinned as he sprinkled some white chocolate chips on his son's pancake. "There."

"Thank you, Papa."

"Welcome, son." R answered then turned to Charm who has been staring at her bowl of oatmeal for a few minutes now. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"

"It's the strawberries, Papa. She wants them smaller." Thirdy explained.

"But they're cut up too small already and they're already mixed with all the oatmeal."

"They have to be smaller, Papa, really small bits. I think Mama called that minced." Thirdy added.

"Minced? You can mince a strawberry?" R sighed. "At bakit sa one hundred fifty one items na bilin ng Mama niyo eh wala yung minced strawberries?" He asked himself as he looked over M's list one more time.

"It's okay, Papa. I can eat them wike this." Charm sighed.

"No. No, sweetheart. I'll just make you another one." R said and took the bowl from her.

"Kuya?" Angel called.

"Bakit, Gel?"

"Parang mali ata itong nabigay mong pagkain kay Seb." His younger sister who was sitting beside Seb's highchair said as she showed R the label on the covered blue bowl which said Lunch.

R touched his forehead with his palm and sighed in frustration. "Almusal pa lang ganito na kakumplikado? Menggay, paano mo to nagagawa?" He mumbled under his breath.

"What was that, Papa?" Thirdy asked.

"That was me talking to myself, buddy. Okay. I think breakfast is the last meal I will cook for you today. We're eating at the restaurant for lunch and bring takeouts for dinner." R smiled.

He then changed the food in Seb and Charm's bowls then ate fruits with his tea.

M heard her phone ring during a break from the shoot and answered it.

"Love? Nasa training na kayo ni Thirdy?" M asked.

"Palabas pa lang ng bahay, Love. Di ko mahanap yung baseball glove niya." R said as he rushed to the van with the kids freshly bathed and changed with hair still damp and uncombed and some baby powder blotches on their faces and skins.

"What?! Love, his training starts in ten minutes. The field is a twenty minute drive away. Nilagay ko na din sa listahan kung nasaan lahat ng gamit niya from the uniform to his water bottle, baseball bat and gloves. His bag is on the table sa foyer para bitbitin na lang paglabas katabi ng pink bag ni Charm for ballet rehearsals." M said.
