Emma's POV

"You're midterms," Mr. S, our Algebra 2 teacher, began, "is in a two and a half weeks."

He paced around the room as the last bell rang.

"Review packet is online for those who want to start it. It's about ten pages!" He called as we left the room.

"Ten pages, can you believe it?" I complained to Callie.

She laughed, "As if I'm doing the whole thing myself, I'll have my tutor help me with most of it."

"When you do, care to share the answers?" I laughed. "Hey, what are you doing this afternoon?"

"Tutoring."

"Again?"

"Yeah, you know how my mother is."

"When does it start?" I asked.

"Starts at 3:15 and ends at 4:45." She groaned.

"That sucks." I sympathized with her.

"Yeah. Well at least she gives us snacks and what not. We're allowed bathroom breaks whenever. Don't even have to ask."

"It's 2:46 now, are you walking there?"

"No, my mom is dropping me off. I should go look for her, I'll see you tomorrow." She waved as she walked off.

I turned to my locker and opened it. I grabbed my textbook and put it in my bag before grabbing my folder.

"You're an ass." Someone muttered behind me, but not to me. I turned in time to see Calum push Luke, and unfortunately into me.

Of course, the folder fell and papers scattered, but Luke and Calum kept walking.

And to think he was being a nice person when we were talking at the party.

I sighed an annoyed sigh before going onto my knees and picking up the papers. Most of the people have gone home, and I don't expect any of the few people around to help.

What a selfish world we have become.

I pick up the last paper and place it neatly back into the folder before standing up again. I grab my lunch bag then shut my locker and start on my journey home.

The temperature has dropped again, and so I will have to remember to start bringing a jacket to school. The sky is clouded, which only added to my dour mood.

I approach the end of the road that leads to the school. Cars are lined up one after another just waiting to get out. There are the parents, the juniors, and of course, senior drivers all waiting for the first car to finally make its left turn.

I look at those in the cars and they look at me as I pass by. I see people I know, people I like, people I dot like. I also see Luke, and Calum driving.

Right before Calum looks to see me staring at him, I turn away and keep walking.
