I slowly try to get up, my limbs ache and hurt as DarkLix has just pushed me into Alaska and into a stinking great tree. The bitch. My head is spinning and I am so confused... My vision is blurred and I struggle to see what's happening.
What? No.. It can't be. The fighting has stopped. What's happened? Has everyone been killed? Has DarkLix killed everyone and just left? No. Shadows of people start to materialise. Like statues, they stand un-moving. Frozen.
Then I see her. Emmy's mum, with... DarkLix. DarkLix has her arms around Emmy's mum, and Emmy's mum is smiling, but not a normal smile. The smile hasn't reached her eyes, her eyes are cold and empty - as if wiped of all emotion. DarkLix must have hypnotized her.
Then my hearing returns and I start hearing the conversation but I don't understand what everyone is saying - I concentrate as DarkLix says...
'Diana and I met in the woods, we bumped into each other while she was hunting. We decided to be allies and hunt and kill people together. Diana loves killing, don't you Ana?' She says it slowly, but I can't register it - Diana would never join forces with DarkLix. Never.
Suddenly, I was angry. Furious. Why would Diana do this to Emmy? Emmy has done nothing to deserve this. Without thinking, I pull a dagger out of Alaska's belt and lunge for Diana and shove her to the ground.
Emmy screams a bloodcurdling scream her eyes burning magenta as she pushes me out of the way and rushes to shield her mother.
'No, you can't! She may have become a physco...' She glances at her mum her eyes full of resentment and salty tears 'But she's still my mum!'
I roll my eyes and shout at her saying 'Oh for gods sake Emmy - she's not your mum any more!'
Her red eyes start to blaze again and she screams 'No!!!!' and she rushes towards me and pushes me over my head hitting a hard, grey rock and I am out cold. My last thought before darkness enveloped me was... Idiot.
