1942 - New Orleans, Louisiana
My feet pounded on the ground as I raced after my target. He was a fast one, but, unfortunately for him, I was faster. He raced straight into the forest on the other side of the dirt road but I pursued him.
Dirt and leaves were flung into the air as I ran and I jumped over a fallen tree. He was not getting away from me. He made a few more sharp turns but I caught up to him, easily seeing his moving figure in the darkness, thanks to my night vision.
I was less than a metre behind him when I leaped forward and tackled him to the ground. He clawed at me but I healed in seconds. After a second of struggling, I finally managed to pin him down with my body and pull out my dagger.
“nighty night wolf,” I snarled.
He snapped his teeth in my face then I felt him shifting under me. Sighing, I quickly changed my position so I still had him pinned when he was a human.
“get off me,” he growled, but still struggling.
I smiled slyly. “I don’t think I will. You see, you broke the number one rule.”
“the human deserved it. Why do you care anyway?” he snapped.
I narrowed my eyes. “why do I care? I care because it’s the law to not hurt humans. And I will always stick by that law,” I replied and lowered the dagger to his throat.
His eyes widened slightly. “who are you?”
I smiled. “I’m Death,” I said then slashed his throat.*****
