"So, where are you taking me?" Genesis inquired, drumming her fingers rhythmically against the windowpane. She had Hann pick up her car and take it back to the garage at her apartment.
"You'll see." Damon replied cryptically. She didn't push any further though, she would find out soon enough.
It had been twenty minutes of driving and they had yet to reach a destination. They had fallen back into a comfortable silence before he spoke again.
"So, what's the deal with you and your sister?" He questioned. Genesis was expecting it though, it would've been suspicious of him not to ask - he was Jazmine's friend after all.
"We've had a lot of differences in the past." She began to explain, "We don't always see things eye to eye."
"Well that's common with all siblings - I argue with my brothers all the time. But with you two, the tension back at the reception and then again at the café was telling a whole other story. That was beyond sibling rivalry." He said, glancing between her and the road as he spoke.
Now would probably be the time to change the subject, she thought. "You have brothers?" Genesis swiftly directed the conversation off herself.
A small smile graced his face. It suited him, she noticed, rather than his usual smirking. "Yeah, Dimitri and Dominic, they're twins. You should meet them sometime, I reckon you'd like them." He replied.
Curiosity was taking over her mind, in all the research she had conducted on Damon, brothers had never been mentioned. Someone must have gone to great lengths to ensure that they remained hidden.
"Well aren't you just full of surprises..." Genesis muttered under her breath.
"What was that?" Damon asked, though she was sure he'd heard what she had said.
"Nothing. Never mind. How old are they?"
"Twenty-four, turning twenty-five in less than a month." Damon told her just as the car stopped outside a pair of electronic gates. He pushed a button on his car keys for the gates to slowly peel open and they drove up the pebbled driveway.
In the centre of the driveway was a beautiful collection of greenery; a sparkling fountain embellished in the middle. The location was perfect, away from the city but not too far into the suburbs. As they neared the middle of the driveway, a huge house stretched out in front of them. It was a smooth shade of cream with brown windowpane's and a matching double door - with the traditional lion knocker. Genesis stared in awe at the scene before her.
"This place is beautiful." She aired. It was everything she'd ever wanted in a home.
"Thank you, I designed it myself." He gushed proudly. This came as no shock to her, she knew Damon was good with architecture, he owned a huge architectural business and made a substantial amount of money from it, clearly.
"You certainly have an eye for detail, Mr Soldati."
He opened his car door, walking around the front of the car in his suave manner before opening the door on the passenger side and offering Genesis his arm. Such a gentleman, she thought. She took his arm with a warm smile and allowed him to lead her into the magnificent building before her.
When they stepped inside, it was as if those dreams of living in a castle that she had ever since she was a little girl had come true.
"Welcome to my home." Damon spoke, bringing her out of her trance. Memories of her youth usually only came at night, when the insomnia resurfaced. The image of his home had taken her back to a time she hardly cared to remember.
"You are a very lucky man, Mr Soldati." Genesis responded. Though she had been under the impression that he was living at a different address, perhaps he owned more than one property, she thought.
