'Signal lost'. The two words appeared on six out of twelve screens, signifying that the cameras Genesis had set up in and around Damon's apartment had been successfully disconnected. She would send someone to retrieve them this afternoon. She had told herself that there was no point having them there as he rarely used the place, but it wasn't as if she was planning to put some up in his actual home either. There was enough bad blood between them, she didn't need another reason for them to quarrel.
In all honesty, she was tired of the watching, she was especially tired of watching him. Damon could do whatever he pleased with whomever he found satisfactory, Genesis no longer wanted a front row view.
Drained from countless late nights, she couldn't be bothered to drive herself into work. Genesis called Hann to pick her up from her apartment building and take her instead, it had been a while since she had the chance to listen to his words of wisdom.
"You look tired, Miss Casanova. Are you sure you wouldn't rather have the day off?" Hann glanced at her from the car mirror.
"Hann. I would more than fancy a day off - but I can't. There is still so much to do in preparation for this fashion show. Not to mention, customers have decreased since Deana's untimely resign from the boutique. I've been working overtime to try and find a beautician as skilled, if not more skilled, than her. A day off seems like the title of a fairy-tale story at this point." Genesis sighed, rolling her neck in an attempt to rid it of the knots that had built up overnight.
"If you don't mind me asking. Why don't you simply hire someone else with the right capabilities and whom you know you can trust to take over? They can take your position as the manager whilst you oversee them as the executive of the company. This way, you'll have less to worry about and more time for your extracurricular activities." He advised.
"I'm not liking the way you said 'extracurricular activities' Hann." Genesis chuckled, though he had a point. "But you may just be onto something. Thank you for the tip." She said as the vehicle came to a halt outside the boutique. Hann made sure to open the door for her and offer her his hand, regardless of the fact that she was perfectly able to do it herself.
"Ever the gentleman." She thanked him, receiving an 'it's my pleasure' in response.
Approaching Emily's desk, Genesis took her hand without saying a word and dragged her into her office.
"Whoa there, Genesis. What's this all about?" She asked, trying to catch her breath.
"I've got a proposition for you that you cannot possibly turn down." Genesis stated excitedly as she propped herself on the edge of her desk.
"I'm listening." Emily replied curiously, raising a brow while she stood in front of her.
"How would you like to become the standing manager of Harmonie's Garments?" Genesis offered, an expectant smile appearing on her lips as she waited in anticipation for her answer.
"Uh... I would love to, but one tiny problem - you're the manager." She said - not the exact reaction Genesis presumed she'd have. She rolled her eyes and took Emily's arm once again, pulling her around the desk and sitting her down in her chair.
"Not anymore, Em. From this Moment onward, you are the manager of Harm's Garms. I will be acting executive which means you have just retrieved a certainly well-earned promotion. Congratulations." Genesis exclaimed.
Suddenly, Emily jumped up out of the chair and engulfed her in a bear hug. She had squealed 'thank you' about fifteen times by the time she was finished. Seeing her smile always made Genesis feel better. Emily composed herself and brushed a few strands of hair out of her face, she sat back down in the chair, wriggling her bum until it felt comfortable enough for her.
