It was lunch period and I was sitting with Karter and Kyle. They were casually chatting about how awesome the school is and about how many great people they already met. I’m glad they are socializing. Unlike me.
I tried to concentrate on eating my veggie burger but I wasn’t hungry so there was no use. The sharp crunch made me instantly screw my eyes shut. I hate the sound of crunching more than anything. After 20 seconds when I was absolutely sure that the sound won’t repeat, I opened my eyes just to find smiling Robyn sitting next to me.
‘’Hey’’ Robyn has a really nice smile. She’s one of those people who look perfect without even trying. And I despise that kind of people.
‘’Hi Robyn’’ Karter mumbled under his breath and continued talking to Kyle who didn’t even bother to greet Robyn.
‘’Have you made some friends today Katherine?’’
‘’Umm…no’’ I could’ve told her about Luke, but I decided not to. I mean we are not friends. We talked once and I all I know about him is that he’s name is Luke and that he watched Mean Girls, which is not enough to consider someone as a friend. And I probably won’t talk to him ever again so he’s not worth of mentioning.
‘’Don’t worry. You will soon.’’ To be honest, making friends was the least thing I’m worried about. But anyway I nodded and gave her a small smile which she gladly returned. Suddenly she turned around and I followed her gaze. Three boys were approaching us. The first one had dark hair and he wore black white tank top which was a great contrast with his tanned arms. He didn’t really look Australian, but whatever. The second one had purplish- black hair which went well with his extremely pale skin. And the last one had a nest of brown curls on his head, and dimples as deep as the Pacific ocean. He wasn’t even smiling and his dimples were still there, he probably had them permanently stuck on his cheeks and to be honest it was kind of cute.
‘’For fuck’s sake’’ Robyn mumbled as they approached us. The non-Australian one slid into the seat next to Robyn which made her uncomfortably shift. The other two sat on the edge of the table and Kyle shoot the funky one a killer glare which he returned with soft smile and according to Kyle’s face expression he didn’t expect that at all.
‘’Hello babe’’ The dark haired boy’s hand trailed over Robyn’s shoulders and I could see how hard she tried to keep a disgusted look on her face, but the redness on her cheeks gave her away.
‘’Hey Calum’’ She replied sweetly. Karter and Kyle stopped talking and all three of us were now checking out this strange bunch. Karter set his eyes on dark haired boy – Calum.
‘’Aren’t you going to introduce us to your friends, Robyn?’’ the one with dimples asked.
‘’Umm yeah. These are Kyle and Karter...’’ she pointed to my brothers. ‘’...and this is…’’ she was now pointing to me ‘’…Katherine.’’ I smiled because apparently that’s a nice thing to do when you are meeting new people.
‘’I’m Ashton, and these are Michael and Calum’’ The dimple guy – Ashton, said and let out a small giggle which made his already deep dimples even deeper.
‘’You guys look alike.’’ Michael aka the funky one announced.
‘’Probably because we have the same parents.’’ Kyle replied and I could hear annoyance in his tone. Very nice first impression brother.
‘’That makes sense.’’ Michael and Kyle were now having a little staring contest which was really awkward for the rest of us.
‘’Anyway, what are you doing on Friday, Robyn?’’ Calum’s fingers were tangled in Robyn’s hair and she was her cheeks were tomato red now.
