I let Aris guide me out of his office to the hallway where Allister and my, "trusted friend," Orion. Did he know this would all happen? I thought bitterly, trying to keep my anger concealed.
"Hello Allister. Orion." Aris greeted them with a polite smile.
Both boys only nodded, and while Allister looked at me with concern in his eyes, Orion stared at Aris, his eyes unreadable.
"Why don't you take Addie down to her room?" Aris suggested.
"Addieca." I corrected him through clenched teeth, but Aris didn't seem to notice.
Orion stepped up and took my arm, it didn't hurt, it was just tight. I had to keep myself from flinching away from his touch. Aris's eyes never left my face and he smiled again before Orion pulled me away.
I let him pull me down hall after hall, turn after turn, and I ignored every attempt of conversation between the three of us. We came to a metal door with the number 1216 in gold were nailed to it. Orion pressed a button and the door sprang open, revealing a rather simple room, with a bed tucked into the wall, a bathroom, a desk in the corner, what appeared to be a tiny kitchen, and a window that looked out at the orange orb.
"The bed isn't uncomfortable as it looks, it's a lot better than the metal table." Allister was growing more and more awkward from the lack of conversation.
In fact, I was dead silent; I just stared out the window, watching the stars and colors. I could see Orion's reflection in the window, look at Allister before taking a step towards me."Addieca... are you alright? I know it's a hell of a lot to take in but it's- " I cut him off.
"Turn around." Was all I said, my arms crossed over my chest and I watched his reflection, waiting for him to do as I asked.
His face looked confused; he looked from Allister to I, "Why? Addieca what's wro-""Turn. Around." I hissed, I was having trouble containing my anger.
Orion was shocked, he blinked stupidly before hesitantly turning his back to me. I didn't waste any time, I grabbed the grey scratchy shirt me wore, by the helm of the collar and pulled down until I saw the hourglass-shaped tattoo. Finally, I couldn't control my anger and using every bit of strength, I could muster, I shoved Orion against the wall."YOU'RE ONE OF THEM! YOU BROUGHT ME HERE!" I screeched, and Allister was at my side in an instant.
"What are you talking about, Addieca?!" Allister yelled, grabbing my shoulder but I shook him off.
"Don't touch me! He brought us here! He destroyed everything I've worked for!" I screamed, shoving Orion harder against the wall whenever he tried to push himself off the wall.
"No, I didn't, Addieca I don't know what that guy told you, but I didn't bring you here!" Orion yelled at me.
The anger was boiling over, "You little lair! Aris didn't need to tell me anything. I saw his tattoo, the same tattoo on your back! So, can you explain to me just how you 'have nothing to do with this?'"
The room fell silent, Orion seemed to relies that the game was over, that he couldn't hide the truth from me anymore. He shoved me off of him and I stumbled back into Allister. Orion was red in the face; his dark hair was a mess and his green eyes were blazing with fury. I waited with baited breath, waiting for him to explain everything to me. I waited for him to tell me why, to explain to me why I'm here, but all he did was straighten his shirt, fix his hair and say, "Get to bed, you have testing tomorrow at 6:00 o'clock in the morning. Come on, Monroe."
He sounded like a robot and he turn and walked out of the room, Allister followed him without compliant. Why wasn't Allister saying anything about this whole ordeal? I wondered with disdain as I watched Allister turn around and walked out. Everything seemed to make sense when I saw Allister's hourglass tattoo on his left bicep marking his skin.
"You're one of them too." I whispered loud enough for both of them to hear and only Allister paused at the door to acknowledge what I said, but he didn't say a word he just pressed a button and the door slid shut, slowly.
I was in a daze; like I was trapped in a dream. I rushed toward the door as the airlock locked into place. I slammed my hands hard against the glass panel."I hate you!" I screeched at the two of them. They only glanced my way; they looked very different to me and I hated them for it. I watched them walk down the hall before disappearing out of sight, before I turned back to my room.
Everything around me was spinning and I had to lean against the cold wall to keep from toppling over onto the floor. I collapsed onto the firm bed and I just stared out of the window, I hate them.
