I can't remember when Orion pulled me away and farther into the wasteland or when I had closed my eyes and fell into a fitful night's sleep or how many nightmares' I had before I finally woke up to a cold morning. I woke alone and confused until I smelt the sharp tang of smoke on my clothes, did I remember that I was now homeless and I had no family. I pushed myself up and I saw Orion sitting on the ground, legs crossed, nursing his arm.

"You're awake Addieca. I thought you were  gonna sleep forever." Orion said calmly only wincing slightly when his fingers brushed the nasty looking burn wound.

It was as though my body kicked in before my brain and I was up on my feet; I gracefully pulled his burnt arm to me. I worked soundlessly, tearing the hem of my shirt to make bandages and I wrapped it around the bloody wound; he winced very so often whenever the fabric would rub the burn.

"You don't have to do this Addieca. I'm perfecting capable on taking care of myself." Orion said in a superficial voice, his eyes burning into my head. I wasn't listening, I was to lost in my own mind.

"Addieca did you hear me I said I can take care of my own wounds now!" Orion said with more force and I felt my hollowed mind snap like a twig and I yanked the fabric a little to violently and he hissed and cursed at me but I paid no mind.

"I think you need to leave." I said tying the cloth to his arm the best I could.

"What?" Orion sounded surprised and I had no idea if his face matched his voice, I wasn't really looking at him.

"Leave; go back to whatever town or village or hole you crawled out of." I said calmly, I was horribly calm and terribly alright.

He was on his feet in an instant, "And what will you do? Wonder around the wasteland until you die?"

I was quiet and I stared off into the waste. Where would I go?

"Everlost. I would go to Everlsot." and I turned on my heels and I started to make my way in the direction Everlost was in. Orion grabbed my arm and yanked me back and looked me dead in the eyes and I was surprised to see that his eyes were a swirling storm of greens, blues, and hazels.

"Why would you go there?" What reason would you have going there?" he asked, his tone was serious and his eyes never left mine.

      "Answers. I need answers."

His voiced softened but he didn't lose his seriousness, "Answers for what?"

"For the fire. Nothing just magically bursts into flames that would be impossible." I whispered trying not to cry.

"What are you hoping to find out about the fire there?"

"I don't know, anything! I just- I just need a distraction!" I yelled at him before jerking my arm away from him. "You can either come with me or leave!" and I started to walk; the sand burning my feet. I heard him groan before he fell into step beside me.

To me the pain in my bare feet was a dull throb. I couldn't feel them, but I knew they were bloodied and blistered and Orion was limping but not complaining.
