Mei walked around the market with her best friend, Han sung. When she had first arrived in Silla he was the only one that was friendly to her at first. Other people avoided her because of her skin, they thought her skin color was strange but had no choice but to respect her due to her social status. Of course everyone thought that she was a man and once people saw that she was a good person, they accepted her as one of the noblemen of Silla.“Hyung, isn't this pretty" Mei said and held a butterfly hair clip up to her hair.
Han sung stared at Jung and smiled, sometimes his friend behaved like a woman which he didn't really mind but it was still strange. He thought about why he had found Jung so interesting.
People called him a halfbreed, because his father was Chinese envoy Lee Shin and his mother was a princess from a foreign land known as Egypt. Jung had given him some books on Egypt and he found it all fascinating. The thing Han Sung loved most about Jung was his skin, it was the most beautiful skin color he had ever seen and sometimes he felt like the beige skin glowed in the sun.
“Are you a woman? Put that down before people think you're weird." Han sung said and kept walking.
Mei put the pin down and quickly followed after her friend. “I was only asking you if it was pretty, hyung how could you walk away from me like that?" Mei said.
